ReMakeQuake is a partial conversion project offering a fresh perspective on the original Quake. The idea behind it is to recreate from scratch the entire set of singleplayer levels of the original game, this time building on a large grid, properly aligning textures and generally applying more modern game building techniques. This isn't just a graphics pack that enhances the game's look, or a Free-Quake style project, it's a full modification for the game.
After one year of work by the large team of volunteers, the third Singleplayer Demo containing four levels by ijed and RickyT23 is now ready.
It's a Windows installer, coming in at a whopping 400 MB. An optimized crossplatform repack of this demo will be available in a while, but for now, Linux users will have to use Wine to run the installer, and download the most up-to-date Linux engine from the site (depends on libSDL and SDL-mixer binaries, make sure you have them). Mac OSX is currently not supported by the project. The minimum hardware requirements to run RMQ are about the same as Doom 3 (!) so about Nvidia 6 series and up.
We love the look of this project here at Quake.ie, and will be reporting future demos and release candidates as 'soon as'!
