- A great configuration suited for all kinds of deathmatch games.
- Frogbot Clan Arena tightly integrated with ezQuake (set as standard modification, no need to change gamedir)
- A great selection of beautiful textures and models.
- The most commonly played custom maps.
- Some of the most exciting Quakeworld matches caught on demos.
- An extensive amount of trick demonstrations to help you on your way to movement perfection.
- All this wrapped up in a very intuitive online installer.
You need pak1.pak from the original Quake to enjoy this game to its fullest and to connect to our online server at play.quake.ie. Issues with Windows 7? See here.
LordHavoc's DarkPlaces Quake Modification
DarkPlaces is a Quake modification built over the course of 6 years on. It got somewhat of an overhaul when the Quake engine source code was released and has greatly improved graphics and image quality. It can not easily be described, as it is simply an improved Quake, not a total conversion.

The realism of shell casings falling to the floor, much improved bullet impacts, 32bit color alpha blended explosions, blood flying everywhere and sticking to the walls... it's all great eyecandy.
Behind the scenes the code has changed a great deal, the developer was not content with the original QuakeC code, and I has greatly changed the engine while maintaining compatibility with normal quake modifications. Many high resolution texture and model packs have been released that fully complement this "engine" and makes it a real contender for most modern games. Looks absolutely stunning.
Tenebrae
Once the standard tool for benchmarking graphics cards, the (now ageing) 'Tenebrae' engine is a modification of the Quake source that adds stencil shadows and per pixel lights to the original Quake. Stencil shadows allow for realistic shadow effects on every object in the game world. Per pixel lighting allows you to have fine surface details correctly lit. These are essentially the same algorithms as used by Doom III and Quake 4.

You don't need to add any high resolution packs or anything else, this can look great out of the box. Note that this engine is more about dynamic lighting than anything else. If you are looking to use modern texture and model PK3 files, download the Darkplaces engine instead. However, we have taken the trouble to merge in several high resolution textures and SOME model skins to this download, and tested with Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux :)
Extract and merge with your Quake directory. Note that resolution is set at the command line eg. tenebrae.run -width 1440 -height 900 -bpp 32 on Linux systems. Windows users can use the video options accessed via the menu. This build of the engine is presented 'as-is' and is therefore not guaranteed to work on your system!
TomazQuake
One of the first Quake engine modifications on the net. This new version was created to address issues with newer graphics cards and Operating Systems like Windows 7. The overhauled Quake engine has some very cool enhancements - including MP3 support.
ThreeWave Capture the Flag
ThreeWave Capture the Flag is a teamplay Add-on for Quake. This is the original CTF add-on, and although many variation came out, you can't go far wrong if you only download this version. Most of the remaining CTF servers (including ours) run ThreeWave.
Capture the flag introduced something that was missing in the original Quake: Goal Orientated Teamplay. The game is played by two teams, red and blue. Both teams have a base with a flag in it. The goal is to steal the other team's flag, while not allowing the other team to steal your flag.

CTF introduced a couple or things in addition to goal orientated teamplay: runes and the grapple. The runes give different powers to their holders. On most CTF servers you will find 4 runes randomly scattered around the level: Resistance, Strength, Haste & Regeneration.
As well as nQuake (above), you will need these files in order to connect to our game server at play.quake.ie on any weekend.
Capture the Flag Bot
Bot capable of playing ThreeWave Capture the Flag. Be sure to read the included documentation before proceeding. Can be played with or without a full Threewave CTF installation (better with). Difficult to set up, but works when configured correctly. The included CTF Bot Coordinator allows the user to easily recompile the progs.dat file. The user may select which maps to be included in the recompile, thereby keeping the size of the progs.dat to a minimum.
Quake Injector
Quake Injector is a tool to download, install and play Quake singleplayer maps from Spirit's Quaddicted archive – basically the complete history of all Quake singleplayer maps ever made!

Ever been annoyed by an excruciating installation process? Could not figure out how to install a certain map? Well, this tool makes it a piece of cake. Simply pick a map and click 'Install'. Requires Java to be installed on your machine. Read instructions carefully.
Custom Map Pack
Custom deathmatch maps from various authors for online and offline play. Use to populate your own server, play against bots or speed up connection time to servers.
High Resolution Texture Pack
Assorted high resolution textures and HUD graphics to make Quake look great, even on newer PCs with high resolution desktops. Extract to textures under your qw directory to add serious oomph! to your Quakeworld experience.

Works with other engines too (Darkplaces, Tomaz etc). See also this website.
