with four weeks gone in the bwctfl, divisions should be taking shape, but the start of the season has been marred by postponements and defaults that are characteristic of this time of year, and most divisions are not yet settled.

division 1 is a prime example of this, as iqs sit top of the table with 16 points out of 16, having played all their 8 games. but in the same division, neo and bio haven't played a single game. this means theres not much to report on from an irish perspective in division 1.. although this week bio received their first points with a default win over gm who have withdrawn from the league because of inactivity.

in division 2a, there was a mixup which led to a default win to pr over goku's new clan the-5th. last time i checked, 5e was full of enthusiasm with plenty of really good tdm players and enough ctf experienced mixed in to make promotion well within their ability if they could get their act together. they had been expecting last sundays game to be postponed while their leader is on holidays, but there must have been a misunderstanding somewhere, and pr got the 4 points. they are replacing -sw- in the league who did them no favours by losing to potzw in week 2. goku put a lot of work into the clan so far, so i expect things to straighten out when he comes back (tomorrow i think).

hat didn't enter the league this season, but the hatters with an interest have ended up in the ts squad. ts actually played this week, two close games against gamers of sweden. it finished with the majority of the points going to gos, the games finishing 6-4 on q3wcp7 and 2-2 on q3wctf1. ts have had some very close games and several 1-cap losses this season, and i'm told they have the potential to do a lot better if they can refine their teamplay. while this can be said about almost any clan, ts have the players to make it work so i expect them to improve enough to finish above the bottom third where they are at the moment.

in div 3c, my own clan, fh, has fallen victim to the summer. five of our players have been on holidays during the past month, and despite the fact that lorcan and vincent got isdn, we have still been short for league games, even to the point of dragging quozl out of retirement in week 1 i'll take this opportunity to say that vincent has a problem with his q3 where he can't connect to servers since he reinstalled win2k - he gets on very occasionally, but usually it just stays awaiting gamestate, sometimes awaiting screenshot. he has the patches, the maps, and osp, and he can't even connect to demon baseq3 servers. no corrupt "q3key" or config files.. and he lost his q3 cd and can't reinstall. does anyone know how to fix that? (he can play single player btw). this week fh conceded our second default since we were formed a year ago (the first one was in wpdml when i got the times wrong and we showed up late), against a clan called the ronins whom we should have beaten imo. we postponed our game against souls, but with people coming back from holidays, and a couple of new players registered, there should not be a problem in the future.

despite the defaults and postponements the league has been very enjoyable so far, and the new maps have been successful imo despite some mixed reactions. in week 5 there will be just the usual mini-review on the main page.. partly because of the fact that i will have very little to say, but also because theres a cunt working behind me who keeps looking at my screen and he wants to know what i'm typing.
