in a flash of common sense that hit me the other day, (and having watched a ton of demos that showed a lot of people with very little between them), i realised that picking 8 out of 11 interested players was going to do nobody any good at all. (the 11 is now 10, ever hear of email at all?). picking the four players, on the other hand is a tricky business, and while i have four named as a "preferred team" below, that can possibly change as we practise.

clanbase nations cup team.ie tdm squad (final):
anarchy, (beast), dest, killy, (koopa), melachi, overlord, saik, ser, sky, sno, vincent, z3on

preferred team @ 29 oct: ser, anarchy, vincent, dest(change your f**king mouse).

internal practise tonight at 9pm, #team3.ie for anybody who can make it.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, or if it is of relevance here, but i've checked with Godsmurf and only players with passports (or who have lived in the country for >1 year and are still residents there now) are eligible to play for that country - grandparents and even parents coming from that country doesn't apply. I don't know if this impacts on any of your team but Ireland are one of the few countries who this might affect with some UK based players in that list.

That doesn't really make sense, because if a parent or Grandparent is Irish, then the individual is eligible for an Irish Passport. So what you are saying is that you have to go and actually pay for a passport just to play for your country, even though you don't need the passport for travel purposes.

If you are eligible for an Irish passport, then that is as good as having one. Do you want us to get the lads to post away for their passports just to play in a league?

Besides, how is he going to check? Does he want to us email him a scanned image of the back page of our passport? How does he know that we haven't Paint Shop Pro'd it?

Some lol.

Jay - i asked Godsmurf if having parents / Grandparents from another country was good enough and he said no, so i guess that unless you do actually have a passport for that country then you are not eligible.

And it's not some lol, if these people are so happy to claim they are Irish for purposes of participating in a competition that they cannot get into for their "1st" nation, then they should be prepared to prove that they really do qualify for the team?

ive donated to quake.ie!

bigfoot, the thing that Godsmurf didn't know about was the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Act, which says that anybody with an Irish born parent is an Irish citizen. Since this law doesn't apply to other countries, there was no way Godsmurf could have known about it.

There are people who are happy to claim they are Irish because they aren't good enough to get on their own team. They can claim all they like, anyone who knows me knows that there are going to be no "Tony Cascarinos" playing online for Irish TDM.

Ireland has it's own team, we are not a squad of England-B-team wannabes. We would have no pride if we let a bunch of English second-graders play as Ireland.

Ser(Chris Crowley) and Anarchy(Jim McCarthy) are both Irish and have the passports/citizenship to prove it if it's questioned. I have to check with Sky but afaik he is the same. As for z3on and sno, they are from Northern Ireland. Apart from most countries in Europe (and the world?), your nationality when you live in Northern Ireland is one of preference. z3on and sno are both Irish.

Bottom line is that there will be no illegal people and no Foreign people playing for the Irish Team.

I've lived here for a while now, my mothers been here for 3-4 years. I'm in college so, this is permanent. Doubt that I'll be going back for about 8 years or so
