aight. i'm sure most of you all know me by now. wether it be through irc or meeting me at the couple of lans i have attended.

i'm a pure q3 player meaning it was probably the first pc game (actually played it first on a mac ) i ever touched for more than 30mins. i remember going down to shannon to help my sister, who is a gfx designer, remove some stuff from her work. she had some game demos on cd that looked interesting namely rainbow 6, quake 3 and baldurs gate. i thought i'd throw one on since i was so bored waiting for her to stop talking to her less than aesthethic friend. i choose dm17 after about 10 minutes of actually figuring out how to start up a game. i didn't have a fucking clue what was going on, looking up at the sky like an astro-physicist and opposingly the floor like a hyper mole bastard from hell. it took me the bones (pardon the pun) of 30 mins before i set up a semi-cfg and began to figure out the contrasting movements on keyboard in relation to the x and y of the mouse( it was the feared puck mouse). i got my first frag, loved the blood and guts and the 'kill' feeling, i reckon i've been brainbugged by quake since then. my sister brought the cd home next week and i wondered why it kept trying to 'go on the internet' everytime i started the game. i realised at this point i could play actual 'being humans'. so armed with my 350 ping, cg_autoswitch on, maximum detail cfg and puck mouse to booth i killed a good few people! i liked it a lot so decided to find out how the community actually worked and did a few searches on altavista etc. found a few q2 irish clan sites emailed a few people etc, and eventually came across a guy called eric mooner at eircom.net. emailed him asked me to meet him on irc, wtf is irc!!!! so i downloaded the mac client and we arranged a game or two. i think he told me to comeback after a few weeks playing hah! i was dire. i downloaded some razer cpl demos, made a cfg and i think that i started to actually improve after that.

within a few months practice(playing aginst the cute m1rv on 56k) i got decent entered the irish cpl event in nethouse, and won a few games! i wasn't exactly expecting to but as the tournament progressed i knew i could get somewhere. but alas overcockyness put rapier v m1rv to a decider 3rd map on ztn (ztn whats that?) and i lost.

i've played quake on/off since then and have recently returned since about the start of this summer after a long absence, the reason mainly being that i actually bought a pc that gave me more than 40fps. the new pc wasnt all that great as i still had to play on 56k but i suppose it ironed out my cobwebbed game somewhat before i attended the koopa -v- nemisis showdown at cybermart. cybermart was definitly the deciding factor in me getting up off my arse and ordering eirc0n hi-speed. isdn has greatly improved everything about my g-aim and basically has made quake3 actually enjoyable to play instead of enfuriating with connection interrupted messages every 10 seconds and useless bastards beating you even though you clicked mouse 1, 3 seconds before they fired at you. i still dont know exactly how i should play with it (offensive/defensive) as its neither here nor there with a borderline point and click ping. i hope to kick the shit out of you all in my adopted home stab city.
