yo, it's been a long time since i've done an update but i've been very busy. work has taken me to la for 5+ weeks. end of project collaboration and testing etc. it's cool (or hot weatherwise) over here, nice ppl, nice weather, and a lot of extra curricular activity... universal studios, las vegas (more fittingly and appropriately known as 'lost wages' - for me at least :( ), magic mountain roller coaster park where they have some of the worlds biggest bestest fastest coasters. you can take a look at them here.

i got back from vegas this morning at about 10.40am. went to bed at 6am, got up at 7.45am to catch the plane. it goes with saying that i am absolutely rogered right now. i certainly had shitty luck there, however lastnight i had a great night... i still lost money but who cares... 10 hours of straight gambling and only being down $30.. how bad?? drinks are free while you're at a table... well you tip a dollar or so and that keeps them coming. played mainly black jack, poker and some roulette.... i got cleaned out twice at poker by some old 'dude' who managed to somehow beat my king high flush.... wtf like? then he beat my jack high flush.... cunt-bag. how much luck can one guy have? still though, i'm not bitter. (cunt bag)

i got my hands on the leaked doom3 leaked-pre-alpha-6-months-old-piece-of-crap. takes twenty years to load on a p4 1.7 and a geforce4. it'd want to be a 'little' more efficient in the released version. i'm sure it will though, cos i can't imagine that everyone is going to rush out to buy the nforce 20zillion video card and the pentiumxx 10terabyte to run it. some of the effects are nice though. i'll bring it back with me in case any of you haven't seen it.

among other things a guy called michael o'brien in my class has been working on a 3d engine that has real-time terrain deformation. i think this is 'da bomb' and most certainly the way-to-go gaming-wise. download it here. it's small so don't be afraid.

my boss bought the lotr special extended edition, with about 500 hours of footage, so that's this weekend taken care of. there is also 'spanks giving' over here some time towards the end of the month...christmas dinner here i come... should be nice.

running out of steam here... i'm sure you've all read that nd finished runners up in the clanbase league... should mosh this coming barrysworld season with all our new spanking players. at least now we'll always have four broadband players on. i'm confident that we'll win it now. last season we got rogered by our own connects. next time gadget... next time.

unfortunately i'll be missing the lan in limerick in december, but i should be back just in time to scrape the lan sweat covered nerds off the carpet. i can't wait. see you then.

I'll hop in some night for a chat Tom. Bummer about Vegas... I hope you end up making a withdrawal as opposed to a deposit while you're there.

I got your chips indeed.... in fact, we've been playing with them here You don't mind the lack of plastic wrapping do you?
I played 7 card stud and Texas hold 'em. I'm looking forward to seeing that extended edition alright. Gonna buy it myself sometime too. It'd be nice to have.

I had a quick look at the game and have to say I'm very impressed with the deformable terrain. I remember Dynamix wanted something like this for Trides 2, but couldn't implement it properly or something. I'd be very interested in seeing how this develops.
