ok, so here we are, week 9 of bwdml, hat top of the table needing to beat lkff to have a great shot at promotion to division 1, and what happens?

the uk internet connections go tits up, presumably thanks to everyone flooding the news sites to get news about america.

result?
the majority of our team have unplayable connections (cable 130 ish min ping, isdn 100 spiking to 999), but because its week 9 and near the end of the season, we can't postpone. no, not even because the problems are nothing to do with us and not under our control. no not even til later that night.

so, now we have the choice, we can default and effectively admit its our problem and nobody else's (which we do not want to do, as it isn't), or we can try and play on.
so we try and play, and its worse than 56k, vs people on the now infamous belgian connects. on levels with lots of plasma. so the first map goes badly, we try and pull together and overcome the problems but its too much, we just can't predict division 2 players 2-3 seconds in the future to place shots into them. end of map, admins undecided what to do, so we end up having to play dm7. pings still flaky for half our side, but we try for a bit. its no use in the end, still no psychic ability to predict where ppl will be 2s in the future, so some people (including myself) give up and go to consult the admins for a decision, or preferably a postponement due to the conditions. but no. someof our players stay on but get more and more frustrated by the messing about our team has fallen to. eventually we concede defeat and default after wasting time for 19 minutes, waiting for some sort of decision either way. in hindsight we should have defaulted right away, but as we were hanging about trying to see if we could postpone that didn't happen. it was fairly lame to waste time, again in hindsight, but that wasn't our intention. it appeared to be if we left we defaulted and that was the end of that, if we stayed we had no team to play and that too was the end of that. so those that could do, played, those that couldn't, didn't.

now the scores are posted, we've been heavily penalised for something beyond our control, without option for any compensation.

gg.

makes you wonder why tf you play anything online when weeks of work can be trashed thanks to something beyond your control.

in my opinion the decision to not allow postponements in the final weeks works actively against common sense, because surely for most people the final weeks are the most important? therefore they want their best team on the best connects they can get, so if something crops up on the night, it would make sense to allow postponements, maybe with a fixed timelimit (say 3 days) within which to find a result, either via default ot rematch. as it stands, if you're still waiting to play an important match in the final weeks, heaven help you if your connects go wrong or two of your best players catch ebola or something, because there is no room for anything to go wrong.
this just seems totally wrong to me, surely the more important the matches the more emphasis should be put on playing them under the best possible conditions? giving as much of a level playing field as possible?

oh well.

Yeah i like it not myself tho i understand the rulings I dont sympothise , i feel slightly cheated out of a chance at promotion , thats not to say it was definate but the chance was there we were ready to rmble and put our best in. Then poof connections are shot to shit and its all gone pear shaped, odd but there you go. im well gutted

FH played XPD in a warmup on a bookable server just before their BWDML game, and connections were the worst i've ever seen them. My ASDL from USA gave ping of 180 to BW, but it was a much better connection than last night... of the 9 on the server only XPD-dred had playable ping... Bd was playing for us and he has BY cable, and had a ping of 100 instead of the usual 30
