back in early january, barrysworld and eircom got into bed together and improved the
link between each other by setting up peering.
  the euroctf league
kicked off with ireland in the same group as wales, isle of man, scotland, england and
northern. ireland.  season 7 of the barrysworld ctf league came to a close.

  bio won division 2a, closely followed behind
was ts.  href="http://www.clanbase.com/news_league.php?lid=516">clanbases eurocup4 took went
down a treat aswell.  one of london's best gaming cafes, href="http://www.theplayingfields.co.uk/">the playing fields, closed.  and whilst
people were going round smelling each others href="http://www.matazone.co.uk/kitty1.html">brains, the href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=739"> irish qw team trials took place.

in february we saw the long awaited release of osp 1, only to be amazed (no really),
that osp1.1 was out momentarily
afterwards.  season 7 of the bw tdm review ( href="http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5060">i, href="http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5059">ii, href="http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5058">iii, href="http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5057">iv) was posted
up on quakenation by bigfoot.  further href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=769">peering between esat, ireland on-line
and barrysworld takes place.  the qw href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=776">team.ie team is picked.  what
was to be the biggest lan of the year, href="http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44342">room101,
got cancelled due to planning problems at the venue. bw ctf and tdm seasons 8 kick off
respectively. 

not alot happening in march and april, but early in the month we saw the bw href="http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5249">easter cup
taking place, with ts taking the gold cup title.  quake.ie
gets a new look and feel.  
tc beat ts in the splashdamage cup final under href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=829">dubious circumstances.   a new
irc server is connected to quakenet.  clanbase reaches its 1 millionth scheduled
match and esat announce their dsl. 

may.  the bw tdm season 8 comes to a close with bio taking division 2b title, href="http://www.quake.ie/nd">nd coming 6th in 2b and fh
finishing in 5th place in division 3d. with href="http://leagues.barrysworld.net/bwq3ctfl/">bwctfl coming to an end (parts href="http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5424">i, href="http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5423">ii, href="http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5422">iii of the qn
review here), we didn't have long to wait for some more competitive ctf thanks to the
resumption of the savage ctf
league. the quake.ie ctf cup was href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=1106">announced and href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=1115">played.

june : as you all know, ireland won the world cup this year.  *cough*.  we
all remember the keano incident and with football madness going on, theres was not alot of
things happening around the gaming ring, except for some href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=1155">interesting flames and killy talking
alot of bull back then.  the
infamous triumph movie was released..
you remember the piss take on the starwars nerds on the conan show ?  don't miss that
gem.

and onto july. early in the month we saw sweden beat russia in the clanbase nations cup
and lan arena 7 took place (qpo 1st, ic 2nd).
  rumour begins to spread of a new q3 player called nemesis who reckons he can beat
anyone in ireland.. and the build up to teh duel of nemesis v koopa begins.  the ign
servers get rebuilt and give a
new lease of life to irish gamers.

a new irish clan called jobos joined the irish scene in august.  barrysworld
changes their service to subscription.
  the long awaited duel between koopa and nemesis took place in waterford. needless
to say, it was a hard lesson to
learn for nemesis.  savage announces
and previews the
divisions for their coming ctf season.  all computer gaming is href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=1297">banned in greece :(

september saw the ant city
craze. utv internet announce
their flat rate access.  9-11 was remembered
all over the world.  as ut2k3 demo
was released the team.ie trials
began.  dc win the bw tdm
league for season 9.  not alot appeared to happen in september.. no idea why either.

phew, almost there.. october - the latest in the href="http://www.quake.ie/comments.asp?item=1348">q3 point releases, 1.32 became
available and gave everyone another few months of something else to bitch about.  as
usual, the bw ctf league href="http://www.quakenation.com/comments.php?section=1&index=5755">review was
posted, bringing an end to another successful season.  bigfoot steps down as league
admin after several years of admining games for joe public.

november saw a lot of games for both the team.ie ctf and tdm teams.  even though
bw had turned into a subscription service, the decision to keep the barrysworld ctf and
tdm leagues free was made.  also, the href="http://http://www.quakenation.com/coverage.php?section=2&index=5836">bw ctf
and tdm
leagues kicked off its 10th season.  room101.org reached its first year birthday and
team.ie compete in the clanbase
nations cup.  a new clan - '70, formed by
myself and saik introduced themselves into the scene with some stunning debut matches
against nd.

so it brings us to december.  im not going into whats going on at the moment as
you can simply read it from quake.ie.  there you
go, a quick synopsis of irish quake from the last year.  i'm sure i've left out lots
of cool things thats happened, but i'm tired now and i simply can't be arsed.  up
2002's big fat browney bits.  bring on 2003!.  gluck and have a nice new year.
