I think this ultrav version is really faithfull to the orignal but would need a map config for the items as the author had the silly idea to put a railgun which is really a nonsense imho.
Just my 2 cents

Esque again
ic cheers.. There's some screenies up of test2, which doesn't look like crap :-)
Rail was mentioned as a possibility, as 3 RLs in q3 would be a bit odd, but I though a railgun would cripple the map...I replaced GL with PG cause I thought the q3 GL is a spammers delight from that position.
My intention was to recreate the layout of ultrav, and the greatness of its gameplay, but not a brush by brush exact remake.

I don't think ur version look like crap but it ain't faithfull to the original which isn't a problem.
As for the gameplay, i think it's possible to have the qw gameplay back just by not using a railgun. The GL is imho a must be on this map, maybe replacing one RL with a PG would be a good idea, but i think other weapons are very well placed.
If u play CPMA u can make what is called a map config which is only an item layout for a given map, it gives u the possibility not to have to compile your map 5 times (try /callvote map cpm16 then !cpm16a or !cpm16b to see what i'm talking about).

What you really want to achieve from a conversion is a map that remains faithful to the gamplay dynamic rather than the map itself. I have played a few direct conversion which were simply recompiled q1 maps and they were far too confined for quake3 due to the larger size of the player model and the different movement.
