MIXU matty mc cloud QW posts : 209 site administrator ive donated to quake.ie! is there any one on these boards apart from the regular qw'ers, that would start playing qw or maybe go back to it ? donking's post made me wonder if there's gonna be any new life in this classic old game. as far as i know, you only need the shareware version, then with fuhquake, u can play any where, any time. give it a go.

"Fuhquake is a win32/linux quakeworld client that aims to not only to have a plethora of gameplay and console improvements, but to also incorporate stunning visual effects and eyecandy." Fuhquake is 10000000's better than QW Firstly, it's always updated, new improvements being put into every version. So far its only .27 and it kicks ass. 2ndly, it's good to modemer's, thanks to the cl_c2spps command which lets us get high fps and no lag. 3rdly, not only has it add'd improvements to qw with friendly settings it also boasts new, fresh and lush gfx. Here's an example 1. RL effect in FUH 2. RL effect in normal QW 3. Water Caustic's in FUH 4. QW's Water 5. Screen Shot's done by fuh himself Now, the pictures dont look that impressive, but its like a totally different game engine compared to its predesor. There are dozen's of new "textures" out there to suit other peoples taste. its also easy to setup, if not, you post on the forum and get a nice n friendly reply. There also a big readme guide out there for the new comers to QW or fuh Quake itself. When compared to the original QW client itself, it look's different, but still has that "qw" feel. :>

I find it alot easier to figure out whats going on in qw now. The animation is alot smoother now cause of interpolation. Im hooked

Ye, its quite smooth alrite On another note, any out there that's interested in the single player game itself, there has been major updates too. One of the best being Tenebrea, the most powerful Quake Engine made. This really has to be played to belive the engine behind it. Screenshots: here Tenebrea Installer here. PS, u need a decent enough gfx card and pc to run this at smooth level.

If you're used to the college connect and ping of 30 dunno if you'd be happy with the modem ping. Modem ping is usually around 110 - 170 which is never really bothered me, i used to play on 250 ping till a month a go QW has better network code than most fps afaik, i still do play every night on modem, still enjoy it.
