MindPhuck Eric Mooney Im drinking stuff donated to quake.ie clan : n8z posts : 1267 site owner teh famous quote from kojack reminds me of all the other cool quotes from yester year.. why? because i feel all nostalgic again. i get like this once every year and its that time again.. myself and biohazard have been yakking about a new lan around the june mark where were hoping to put up a dirty big marquee, slap in about 16 pc's, lots of drink, lots of food and a whole bunch of laughs! it reminds me of quakefest of '96-97, irelands first big lan meet, ran by carnate, with a little help from myself. it was such a brilliant lan. all the gamers from all parts of ireland were there. people who never met each other before, but talked to them over irc and played along side or against them. never before was the idea of 'omg, im actually going to meet people from teh internet..'. to ease the pain, people had little sticky badges (how cute) with their names on them, so when you introduced yourself people knew who you were. at first it was a little weird, but then as the day progressed (and the people got more drunk), even the most bitter rivalary of clans didn't stop the friendships that were being formed on that day. and, even now, people are still real life friends with alot of the gamers that they met then. some of them went on to work with each other (myself, zero, pox and reaper), some started their own businesses together (devore, regi, vex0rg), and even some of them got engaged (creame, adra) and some seperated :/... but mostly, we all remain friends in someway or another. there is an unspoken, perhaps unknown link or bond amongst those people from yester year.. quakefest.

He came into maplin one day and told me a story about how he was the one of the first people to set up a lanparty.. he ranted about how he pitched a big canapy out his back and played loads of quake.. I thought it was a little far fetched! Now i feel silly for not believing him. The guy hasnt changed a bit. azrayal

You are right Eric, I still have good mates from those days (the young un's these days, they just dont understand ). Traveling to france (Zero and Ol and Dre in a jeep with Vexorg!), Scotland and the evil 12-hour over land thing, London etc. My company, Boards.ie, yourma.com, IGN, Quake.ie, Fortress.ie, irc servers, games servers, mates and tons more sprung from a stupid game we all got addicted too ... lol! 03/04/2003 01:01 #6 anonymous I travelled all the way from Portmarnock in a mini jammed with two computers. I broke broke both monitors and slept on a very uncomfortable floor. Wore that silly pink t-shirt, which i still have btw. ...and I didn't make the photo. I'll never forget the Trinity boys being told specifically, by a very large Carnate, *NOT* to nose around on other peoples' machines. Then Reaper gets caught 10 mins later going through Ray's machine. Foight! mickah
