i remember dropping an email to
makaveli (of very high sens. fame -- the guy's crosshair shook like a
sh*tting dog -- positively nauseating) a few years ago asking him how he copes
with all the sh*t talk that goes on, particulary the bull directed at him. i
thought i'd lost the email, but i managed to find it in one of my imap
archives. he's a very decent bloke actually, but i suppose those of us who been
around long enough in this scene know that already... the bloke has taken a
remarkable number of hits from people over the years, most of them thoroughly
undeserved, due to his headlong embrace of the commercial side of quake.

he did
numerous tv interviews at the height of the "cyber-athelete" frenzy whereby the
media believed that computer gaming was the "next big thing", a viable sport
that joe public would be interested in watching on prime time tv. i think that
most of us now understand that to be unworkable, but still, without people like
makaveli pushing it for us, we probably wouldn't have the major
tournaments (with major prizes) that go on like the cpl etc.

hahhaa, you're the first person to ever email me about that kinda stuff.
believe me, it wasn't easy. but i guess over time i just kinda got used to it.
also, i've proven myself time and time again, so basically, i just figure, "you
can't beat me? then stfu." hehe. i know i'm one of the best so all that stuff
they say is irrelevant. however, the personal comments are annoying and i hope
the laws get changed that stuff is considered public slander as i would press
charges.

yeah man, maybe oneday i'll make it over there. if i do i'll be sure to drop
you a line. =p
