ok now, what am i doing with a column here, well

i`v always noticed a slight lag and inconsistency with my mouse and keyboard. using a ms internet kb and a ms usb intelli 1.1 optical mouse.

so i thought i`d research this and come up with some sorta help, well namely for myself but i guess others have had problems at one time or another.

use whql drivers only:

after you install your nvidia drivers - check the direct3d and opengl settings in control panel

turn off vsync:

www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/trouble/inputdelay.htm

refesh tool

www.majorgeeks.com/article.php?sid=1457

mouse fixes:

www.hardcoreware.net/files/mouse_fix.reg

thats a reg file, backup your registery settings first. i found this helps in all fps games. *backup reg first*

does the mouse fix save fps?

smooths the mouse out i think maybe because the mouse polls less - usb mouses do use cpu cycles, and unnecessary acceleration may cause severe fps drops - especially when turning/moving a lot with the mouse

win xp services:

turn off system restore
turn off gay services:

www.techspot.com/tweaks/winxp_services

it made a fair bit of difference to my play, and well everyone has there own settings and style, a good idea is when you have your machine running the way you want is to save the registery file, either the whole lot, or just the mouse/input settings.

Does that effect USB at all though?
Would have thought it did the same as an old version of PS2rate.

you can use the default ms mouse driver, not the usb one, and specify the scan rate
