irc channels for scorebots: #esworldcup and #eswc.q3 on quakenet. the official site, with big list of all matches. the event starts tomorrow 09/07/2003 at 10:00 hours, mm breakfast. cha0ticz vs st_germain, akiles versus python at the same time. the group games are pretty close together so you can't watch all of them. gtv would be an idea, so i found this great link. demos on cached.net probably.
predictions und sofort:
i would be very surprised if any of the following people win: prozac, unkind(duh), blokey, dreg, if22, st_germain, phantom, cha0ticz, fazz. which leaves 12 other people who have even sicker aim and vicious tactics.
some of the players have been keeping low profile - no demos, some could be the only one from their country i can remember, some are playing down their chances and some are just underperforming. so on paper you have to rate them lower. i think any of these players could win this, but don't think they will.
zero4 - haven't heard much about him lately, no lans, no online tournaments.
socratez - same as zero4, but you can bet your house these two have been praccing together.
cooller - has kicked ass since wcg but claims he hasn't been practicing lately, (cough*ullshit).
python - same problem as ph4ntom , more experience, has even less competition at home.
fox - lanning with fazz instead of z4muz and losing to a noname icelander, confidence will be low and he won't have major experience.
lexer - won quakecon in style, disappeared, slowly returning to form but i don't think he will be on top of his game in time.
rocketboy - really improved for 2002 wcg over the previous year. more competitive home scene than ph4nt/phyth. if he makes the same jump in skill again, no reason he can't win. but then, why no demos?
akiles - was a big surprise at wcg but went inactive afterwards, at a disadvantage to those who kept it up.
reef - dark horse for the entire tourney. i think he's better than python and ph4ntom anyway, no recent demos.
which leaves daler, z4muz and b100.death. i think daler sucks at the tactical side of things - comparitively. b100.death will have had better practice than z4muz and more experience. in interview he sounds confident about his aim and his pro-t4 which would be z4muz's advantages over him. so b100.death for pres.
