"server.....it is understandable that the uk attackers would under perform in these circumstances." - as an oldskool player, im surprised you base your opinion of the server from what you could or couldnt see from gtv, that server is actually fine, just had a few glitches last night, which as far as i remember, affect not only the "uk reserve" who has the flag but also the irish "reserves" who are trying to kill him, that is of course, the three irish players using isdn, one of whom was dest, ireland's best attacker btw who would have been 10 times better if his cluck pc/isdn had let him stay on the server for more than 2 minutes at a time, not to mention us missing melachi, who is probably the best allround player ireland has. we can all make excuses. what's the smell in here? oh yeah it's bullshit. i'd like to see uk - ie on lan, it would be a lot different from the last time they met. fuck sake, if the 5 irish lads last night were bb, the uk team would have gone home in a box. so why can't you just do your "gg" and shut up about it and just accept that last night's game very nearly went the other way, and a little part of that might actually have been to do with the fact that our lads are fuckin good.

And I say again, you may claim the server was fair but if there is no advantage to playing on your home turf then why do you think you play at home and away in Football qualification tournaments? You didn't want to play on the UK servers because it was unfair on yourself, the UK played on Irish servers because, whilst it was still unfair on them, it wasn't quite as bad as it *might* have been for you. The fair thing would have been to play once on Ireland's server, once on a UK server and then let the CB rules decide where the third game was played. I can remember a number of times in the past when CB games of note have been played only on the servers of one of the home teams because that team has claimed they couldn't play elsewhere and this has lead to freak results and I believe at one time the introduction of a rule that only servers in certain countries can be used for EuroCup games (I may be wrong on this). bigfoot

11/06/2003 00:45 #23 anonymous The point is there is an advantage to playing at home - In internet terms the server is nearer to you in hops usually which means fewer chances for the connection to fuck up, even if your ping isn't all that due to other reasons. Of course that is less of advantage than having a partisan crowd cheering you on but it is still usually the "done thing" to have sporting contests played once at home and once away, or at least home / away in alternate years, so I only hope that if the UK takes on Ireland again in the Nations cups that all three matches are played on UK servers. Or is it a case of Ireland needing the home field advantage just to make it a close game against the UK reserves? bigfoot

Why do you consistently repeat something that any idiot with a half a brain cell would know is bullshit? Irish server, English server, .ie or .uk doesnt matter a fuck, its the connections to the server that cast an advantage or disadvantage, and there is no question that with 3 irish guys on BAD ISDN, the UK team had the advantage, maybe not as massive an advantage as if they were on their nildram 7pings, but still an advantage, Broadband is 100 times better than ISDN. So maybe your problem is that your UK team didnt have ENOUGH of a gross advantage to make the win easy for them. Reserves my bollocks, what do you even know? It even annoys the hell out of me that this type of thing here has even happened, it makes us look bitter even though the only reason anyone has gotten their back up is because you put this ignorant overly-biased opinion on the front page of a very popular site as "news", even though you have your head way too far up your own fat ass to see that neither of the squads had any problem with the match the other night.
