| for the few of us that attended the lan the other day, it was a deadly lan. as per usual, bio, ronin & co. threw out another professionally run lan, with the small but important things like the power/network being completely perfect up the the bigger things like well run competitions with prizes.
you will notice that bio has since posted on room101 that the quake-only is not going ahead because of lack of "quaker interest". i dont blame him, and i think that the people that have let this happen are a tad ignorant or selfish or maybe just plain dumb. these guys dont make much money off the lans. they do it like mp and however many more before them that have an interest in the gaming scene, but these guys are more into the quake end of it than any other games and seem to nearly dislike seeing the lan filled with bf1942-ers etc. the reason they are pissed off, isnt because there werent a lot of quakers, its because the lan wasnt filled with bf1942-ers because a bunch of quakers had signed up and stayed signed up and held places and then didnt bother turning up.
i understand, and bio etc obviously understand that there were ppl like killy etc who have a big job to do to make it to a lan, and those people decided when the quake lan was mentioned that it was a lot of hassle etc to make it to both lans and didnt go to this one. there were people who had exams, and there are always the few last min ppl that something comes up and they can't go. there is no problem with that, but taking ds for granted and deciding on a whim not to go, is fucking bullshit and i completely understand why bio said what he did there. i mean for fuck sake, we have the chance of having regular quake lans, clan wars by the dozen, more than likely prizes for q3 comps, perfect no-bullshit lan set-up, and guys running it with a genuine interest in the irish community, let's not let this go to waste.
so.
if there was a lan organised, sometime end of jan or early feb and it was announced in good time for ppl to clear schedules/book weekend off etc, how many would go?? we are gonna talk to rich and paul and hopefully change his mind on the subject, they may very well tell us to fuck off or may decide based on how much of a show of interest there is. so what i want ye to do is to post a comment here saying whether or not you would definitely go. just post your name and your clan and a yes or no, i dont want this to turn into a discussion on it, the people who signed up but couldnt make it for a proper reason know who they are and those that reserved places til almost the end and couldnt be arsed also know who they are.
