| ever stumble across one of those nice, big unknown avi files on your hard drive? just as i was heading to bed, i seen this 170mb avi file sitting in my 'quake film' folder and thought what the fuck is that? so i loaded it up and sat back for 7 mins, and in them 7 minutes, i found myself not giving a shit about the time or my excess tiredness. (infact its gone away)
misusing explosives is a quakeworld trick movie featuring maps such as dm3, e1m7, e2m2, e3m3, done by a german qw player called soma.
not like your normal quakeworld movie which usually contains frags, bores and lots of punk rock music... this one attempts a new approach, with classical music instead of the ever so tiring goth music (which imo, this classical is much much better - and im not a classical person) :d
it starts off on dm3, showing us some of the "easier" moves, then moving onto tougher, more complex ones; some involving multiple players. moving on from dm3, we see exmx maps getting an appearance by the german trickster; most if not all these tricks being new to me.
ive heard some one saying 99% of these tricks are'nt new - which is bullshit. some of the tricks have been seen before in trick movies, sure its hard to find new ones since so many around, but not 99% as one has said (no names, you know who you are!)
moving on in the film, we see some freaky qw physics modes, shotgun/double barreled shotgun powered tricks which levitates the player across the map and into positions you'd think isnt possible!
near the end of the film, were shown some more fancy and cool looking bunny hoppying displayed on dm6, along side some more trick jumps on the exmx maps but what sticks out the most has to be the 'nail walk' bug, which is shown on a few maps instead of just one (rocks!)
really makes the film stand out, very very cool idea. hard to explain, but really funny to watch
i personally enjoyed this film alot. as i said above, alot of the tricks in it were new to me; some showed resemblance to others - but that didnt matter. music isnt my type, but i didnt mind listening to it, and it was a good change from the usual stuff. goes well with the avi too. the gfx are ok, but i dont think he set out to make a rainbow colored movie
another thing to note, this is his first attempt at a quakeworld movie - hope we see more from him!
i give it 8/10
get it here. (164 mbs)
