need help!!

Jedi jedi posts : 240 administrator i'm bored here in work and i'm trying to find some way of connecting to quake.ie but the firewall here in work is a bit impressive to say the least. mirc, chatzilla, java based irc clients are not working for me and the only thing that seems to work is a web based irc client. for example cgi:irc works fine. unfortunetly every cgi:irc website iv ever tried only allows me to login into there specific channel. so basically i need a way of connecting to quake.ie from work. if some one can get it working it might be an idea to put a link to it from the site somewhere eirc because i'm sure i'm not the only one who can't join irc from work. cheers in advance.

Can you not feed it thru the http proxy, with proper auth settings. i have a link somewhere for a shitty cgi one that will let u log in, its russian but works, will dig it up. Kairo afaik uses some one as well

THis is generally used by sockscap and if they have the security low enough (it is by default) you may be able to run mirc through it directly. Bear in mind tho you'll probably get in some trouble if caught doing either of the things mentioned above For socks info: http://www.socks.permeo.com/AboutSOCKS/SOCKSOverview.asp You can run any application through socks such as Kazaa,emule, bit torrent etc..
