Someone might be able to help me. I installed quake 1 on my pc again yesterday. I have a pretty simple cfg with Sensitivity 2 for every weapon and no mouse Accel but for some reason in game i always have mouse acceleration.

How can i turn off mouse acceleration. Is it a cfg setting or a windows setting.

I'm useing FUQuake by the way if that helps.

Too disable accl in winxp(for ms mice atleast):

run-> regedit

go to -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse

(now you could export,the exsisting settings to back it up (right click where it says Mouse on the thread(left side)and export the .reg file (only saves the mouse settings)))

Then on the right side modify theese settings :

Mouse Speed

Mouse Threshold 1

Mouse Threshold 2

so that their 'data' value is 0

ie.

Mouse Speed 0

Mouse Threshold 1 0

Mouse Threshold 2 0

(just double click and put value too 0)

Then you can export theese changes aswell to another .reg file.

And Reboot(gotta reboot for changes to take effect).Also you might want to turn of 'Enhanced pointer precision' in mouse properties, i like it on thou..think that is pretty optionall..

(If you dident like mouse accl off, just double click the backup you made at the start,reboot,and everything is back to how it where befor.)

Mixu if i change the setting above will it effect my q3 sensitivity. I use no Accel in q3.

Not sure jedi, i never touched Quake 3
But i doubt it, since your already not using accel in quake3. Just make a backup of the reg, try it out, and it if it does affect quake3 simply restore the registry. -noforcemspd on the cmd line might help too (for fuhquake)

the only setting i use to take off the feel of mouse xcell in xp is -m_smooth in the cmd line of fuhquake. never done any of that reg crap or nothin i knew about it but when you just add -m_smooth to cmd line and play a few games like that it feels fine.
