jesus, been a long time since my last post up here, between moving gaff and losing my connection to being crazy busy in work i havent played q3 since last october.
i moved off my 1meg cable out in lucan over to a house in raheny, moved in with 4 mates into a gaff near the dart line so it's sweet for getting to and from work, as against the trek i used to have to do from out in shitty lucan.
no major news from myself, we got a line into the gaff, 1 meg dsl but shared between 5 nerds doesn't spare a whole lot of bandwidth for the uploading of q3 packets, or any fps packets to be honest, so at the mo the only thing i'm playing online is poker heh.
single player games, any good ones out atm? i was playing away through nfs underground 2 just for somethin to play on the machine, its a decent game if you are into the driving, recently got silent hunter 3, which is a ww2 u-boat simulation, its actually fuckin great crack, go up into the north atlantic and blow away unarmed defenceless norwegian fishing trawlers, can it get more satisfying than that?
another thing that makes raheny better in lucan is that i dont have to sit at the front door at night with a shotgun in case some little wankers try and rob the car. anyone who was around in the days of the team.ie quake3 team would remember the red nissan i had at the time, reliable little car that ferried the quakers up and down to limerick for the entire summer of 2000 (? i think it was 2000). woke up one night around 6am to find the driveway empty, so called the cops and they rang back to say "uh we found your car, it's in a field and we can't get a truck in to tow it, can you come over?"
so off i went over to ronanstown copshop (the irony of it) and they told me that the little cunts had ramped the car over this thing to get it into the field and basically burned around it until the cops arrived and they legged it. i found the car and it was in absolute shite, then mp came over later on to take a picture for the insurance and they had burned it out. observe:

needless to say the car wasn't going to drive again so i was car-less for a bit while waiting for the insurance to come through. but one weekend i borrowed my sister's car and parked it outside overnight, only to find that the little cunts came back, broke through the stoplock and tried to lift that car too. my da had rigged the car tho and they only got it 10 yards before it cut out, so we got away with having to replace the ignition. (disclaimer: it may not have been the same cunts, but i reckon i'm accurate enough with the "little cunts" part)
anyhoo, when the insurance came through, i got a little more than expected for the sunny and got a deal on a car, so moved up two years to a 97 laguna (below):

i loved this car, it was the first "proper" one i owned, 1.8 litre engine, big comfortable car, a pure pleasure to drive. would have had it a year ago today actually. i heard the laguna's had a name for bad electrics and it started to ring true with this one, a few bits and pieces going here and there, not enough that i would ever criticise the car though, it's definitely the most comfortable car (discounting massive expensive mercs etc) that i've ever been in, with a peugeot 406 coming in a close second, it must be the french cars, i hear the citroens are the same.

anyhoo, started thinkin of changing the car recently, basically doing the maths on fixing it up and it's worth as against trading it for a newer yoke (00 or so), was actually looking at 00 lagunas looking for a fairly high spec one in a garage that would take my own as a trade-in. as a few weeks went past i started looking at primeras, alfas, accords and 406s aswell, and to make an unnecessarily long story shorter, i went off and got myself deeper in debt and bought myself an 00 alfa 156 last week.
i fuck-ing love this car.

it's a 2.0 litre 16v t-spark selespeed, has the alloys aircon sunroof traction control blah blah etc, rings in at 155bhp. the selespeed gearbox means the car can run on automatic or you can be in manual and it's sequential, i.e gearstick only moves forward and back, change up/change down. also has gearchange buttons on the steering wheel. got it well worth the money, and it's definitely my new pride and joy. at least until i wrap it around a lamppost or lorry or something.
i upgraded my computer recently actually, got a decent 3gigger p4 with a 256meg x800 etc, was watching a few demos the other day from last year and kinda got the bug to play a few games. was thinkin we should arrange another quakelan soon, big deal if nobody has played, just fh n8z and whoever, turn up and play ctf games all night, would be good crack. many people be up for it? (if we got enough numbers we could get the ds lads to run one for us).
that's my 8months of bullshit out in this column, i'll write another 8months of bullshit before christmas.
ro.

I still check this website dozens of times per day...

That laguna was extremely comfortable alright - didn't think its time would be up so soon... that alfa romeo looks nice - although from what I heard about them you should get rid of it in a few years before the body starts falling apart and rusting all over. Gearchange buttons on the steering wheel... hah, in my day you had to walk barefoot in the rain to change gear.

Supercolt is still going, minus a tiny bump in the back bumper from where I reversed into a pillar doing a 3 point turn in Dundalk in my haste to get to spacelan on time. (the L is gone now)

I'd be up for a quakelan... I havent played quake in months either, and FH has technically quit, but I'd say we could probably still get the usual suspects together.

Does anyone still play TDM?

first off, hard luck on the burnt out yoke, are you sure it wasnt an insurance scam(what do you and mp work in again )

Those tsparks shud be ok, but the body may not hold up to the harsh irish weather(wouldnt put me off getting one)

I'm a country lad, but is this robbing cars, rallying them, then burning them out a common thing in Dublin or is that a stupid question.

Anyhoo....welcome back

Ronan you big bollix! You should look into getting smartbroadband for yourself, you know with the free line rental 35e a mth etc. Then with that new pc of yours you'd have no excuses not to play ET.

I'm fairly inactive in q3 i play the odd time on CA servers but the interest has long left but id probably head up to a quakelan.

By the way the field where your burnt out car was left looks like the field farrell gets shot in near the end of the movie, Intermission.
