the crazy polish fuc* carmac interviewed wheat who recently played a bunch of q4 at qcon, find his interview at ggl.

snippynippet:

carmac: does the game feel like quake 3/2/1?

djwheat: the game feels more like a combination of quake 3, doom 3, and quake 1. that may seem a bit sporadic considering each of those games is completely different in the way it's played and the feel of the game. but imagine if you took the best elements of those games and threw them into the multiplayer game and tweaked them to work together.

perhaps the new quake era will paint a different picture for the irish quake scene as we now have somewhat decent connections. someone also mentioned that there would be an mp test demo released before the scheduled release date of q4 (oct 11th). wow can't believe it's coming so soon. another thing is that it will most likely become the world tour 1v1 game of cpl next year.
personally i'll play q4 or et qockwars. cs 1.6 was chosen over cs:s so despite having a great deal i'm not waiting a another year for major tournaments. that and quake being 5000 times better than cs, even though i'm pretty awesomeo at that randomshizgame. smoouv.

Welcome back to the hardcore FPS world mel

You better have not lost your gameplay with that cs:shit coz if Q4 brings back the pipping-hot multiplayer action it is now expected to do, you'll have a few big fat oirish players on your path to 'best Q4 Irish dueller'

At least you won't be bothered by benj coz he sold his soul to Blizzard to get a few months refill on his WoW account ...

won't be any problems for me. cs:s actually improved my reactions and in the game ur aiming for like 1squarepixel instead of full bodies. + ill be playing with go pher of ic and foooooki (eswc 2004 winner) several hours everyday. if anything there will be an increased gap. i mean all the fuckers have gone into hibernation here too so. depending on how much time everyone else puts into the game, i will always be able to play more
im hoping people will play lots though so that we can have a highskilled island and actually compete with other nations. some competition to help push the motivation is always good, I expect to see the usual suspects in full motion so that we can whoop the brits (except for benji, he can stay in wow).

True connections are better in Ireland know, although myself, Vin, Space and the other ISDNers have it worse than ever, since all ISDN ISPs have gone completely belly up in the last 8 weeks or so, not spiking to 180 like it used to, but spiking to like 1000ms regularly for 3 seconds at a time with huge packet loss.

Am still trying to get some wireless broadband myself which should be better, hopefully if quake4 is good then even with dodgy connects I would make an effort to go to all the big lans in Ireland, and maybe we could organise a few of us to go to some of the lans abroad. Then again the game could be shite, and its possible that we won't even have an Irish LAN, but I suppose theres no point entertaining that view.

Hopefully if it is anyway good we'll see the competition back in Irish quake, aside from the usual suspects it would be great to have some of the older players who didn't stick around in q3 back.. q1 and q2eers, with the odd cs/tfcer thrown in. Would be cool to have the buzz back with leagues and CPL qualifiers and all that stuff.

my 6800 ultra is AGP eamo

To ol, without doubt a razer, either the diamond back which mel has, I have, I think Rapp has one too, or the newer copperhead. They are the first mouse I've ever had that has absolutely no negative acceleration.

I've got a razer diamondback right now. I'm getting a razer copperhead as soon as it's out though, i'd wait for that OL.

the only big difference i see on the specs of the copperhead is the 1000hz 1ms response time. How many hz is the diamondback cos i cant see it anywhere.

also, read what tom has to say on pushing up the 125hz limit that usb has.

Will probably get a razer copperhead myself - since I'm broke at the moment anyway. Wish they wouldn't bother with all those fancy lights since it probably adds $20 to the price and I don't want them anyway. Wheres the best place to buy a func1030? Preferably a place that also sells Razer Cooperheads to save on shipping.

those lights are the actual sensor lights so
They have green/red/blue incase you're bored of the old red optical light.

Anyway the copperhead is an improvement on the diamondback, being slightly higher at the back and the side buttons being bigger and place much better.

the diamondback is a good mouse but the copperhead would be a better bet due to updated design (higher back and side button placement) i wouldnt care much for the 1000hz 1ms thing - you can get your diamondback up to 1000hz but it isnt stable and causes increased processor usage. im not sure if the copperhead will manage the stable 1000hz but probably should do. i still probably had my best aiming days with the mx500 though.
