now that quake 4 got its official launch date, the cpl quake 4 registration for the winter championships opened and is already booked out by now (took 30 hours to get 128 pro-gamers to register).

as expected, it seems that pro-gamers from various games have all united to play quake 4, but we'll really have to wait a few months after the release of quake 4 to know if the pro-gaming community is driven by the cash prizes or by the exciting new game quake 4 is expected to be.

in the meantime, here is the full list of the registered players:

Nice to see all those signups - Stelam, zyz, purri... most of the Spanish D&M team... some other handy Euros like tox, fox, gopher i think, ooze (spec - is that FOE-ooze?), impulse, and lots of old big names like Polosatiy, Lexer, Fatality, wombat etc.

Disappointing that there is no unKind, Lakerman, D00mer, prozac, Rocketboy, Kane, Zero4 etc.

From an Irish perspective its a shame to see there are no Irish players or good UK players (blokey/timber/etc.) but I suppose this'll just be no point expecting too much from what is only a $30,000 tournament of a game that hasn't even been released yet.

My totally premature tip for the title: Fatality... runner up - Polosatiy?

Lakerman is now a millionaire playing Poker.
Kane is nearly a pro footballr last i heard.
Timber is grown up and has a job now.

I am meeting with Sujoy at his netcafe to help him practice, but hes too old for it now so...

It is [FOE]OoZe indeed. We're all excited about him going there (I'm gonna try to go also if I get the cash). Because of the amount of big pro-players competing, winning the tournament will be hard but it'll still be a good challenge and definitely a good experience. K!cker couldn't register on time so he'll probably be going to the Summer Qualification.

Let's hope the CPL will run some European dates also.

On a side note, I'll be interested to see how high the g0d girls will go.

I think its fair to say that the g0d girls will finish somewhere near the bottom. K!cker and Ooze I have always rated highly as great all-round players and would expect them to surprise some people. I would like to see Sujoy win a few games but I dunno...

Ser - are ye practicing in q4 or some other game?

I think Fatal1ty has about a 90% chance of winning this thing - he'll have all the maps and strategies learned off by now, before the other pro players even get their hands on it..he'll take the first few, then it'll start getting interesting.

Personally, I wouldn't be pro-Sujoy in this tourni, I was nearly sure I saw Blokey on the list but I just checked and it isn't there - did he remove himself or something?

Stelam to finish 3rd. And if Fatality wins this first tourney, he will not win the second.

they're considering raising it to a 256 player tourney - melachi were u considering going? Might as well go it would be well worth it even if you don't win, would give us something to write about.

And quetzal I don't agree with your reasoning regarding fatality's chances of winning... playing a multiplayer by yourself doesn't teach you the strategies very well. Assuming he has the game already then its true he'll learn the maps, but as soon as the game comes out all the players will learn the maps, and that is when the strategies will begin to develop. Unless hes doing 24/7 with zero4 or wombat which isn't the case I'd say, then he'll have no significant headstart. I do think fatality will win the first tourney though, because hes so good and plays so much.

I kinda agree with illkillya, if you think that he'll rock everybody because he had his hands on the game already, I believe it's wrong.

If Fatal1ty wins, it'll be because he's one of the best (if no the best) pro-gamer out there.

But the list of players looks very very promising and I think we'll have some serious fights and a good taste of what q4 will be.

But if I was a pro-gamer and if I would have registered for the CPL tournament, I'd make sure to work on something original or unexpected to cancel the little advantage Fatalit1 would have.

Beside, the game will probably feel a bit different to what q3/d3 feel and this could match perfectly some unexpected player's gameplay.

quake3 1v1 suited the russians run and hide and stack up on armour clever play with maps like ztn and pro-dm6, while guys like toxic and czm would have battered them on q3arenax... no way to know how q4 will turn out. Hopefully there'll be some Irish/UK/French signing up if it goes 256 player. St_Germain, thefou, SER

the best quake3 player of the last 18months is czm, im sure he's in with a shout.

Rocketboy is in there also(deadly to watch him play) as well as Socrates. A few experienced lan players as well(FFSmasher)

Not sure how much you can judge this players on a game they haven't played. I think we'll see someone making tactics on the run like prozac did for eswc(?) when he was a latecomer.

I played sujoy a couple of times a few days ago. I thought I was rusty... rofl... gave him a bit of a whoopin

ill sign up if its 256 players but im not sure if ill go, december 14th isnt a great date for me.

I remember that kid K!cker from when I lived in sweden, I beat him 30-0 until he started moaning and disconnecting several times. Maybe he cleaned himself up..
Played duels with czm in ultrono he's an animal at any dm game I don't know what the hell needs be done to beat him...
fooki will sign up if they increase players i believe.
