First post on quake.ie, wowsers !

Thought this might relate to a few other quake heads out there.

One of the many downsides to living out in the stix is lack of broadband. About 2 years ago IOL anytime was introduced, this was a flat rate (ish) dial-up package for ~€30 a month. 180 hours of internet time, it could be used with ISDN too. I immediately signed up, it was pretty good at the time. Now with the evolution of broadband it sucks monkey balls but broadband is still not available to me.

I signed up for ESAT BT to be billed via direct debit. 2 years later I had still not been billed. About 2 months ago I receive a bill out of the blue for about ~€700, no letter or anything with it, just a big massive f*ucking bill. I still havent paid yet waiting to see if anyone else had the same problem.

Yesterday Overlord(woody) got a very similar bill, so this seems to be occuring to a few people.

Is there anyone else like myself and woody to receive such a massive bill ? Anyone have any thoughts in regards the handling of such a matter ?

Fucking robbing bastards !

Ronan.

I remember reading about this happening a good few people on http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=378

If you do a search there, it should show up similar stories, not sure how they all got sorted.

Maybe you can contact them to arrange installments?

i think you can contact the obudsman, theres something in the legislation about getting bills several years after its due date. I would check it out.

Isnt that if you are not billed during the first year of service, maybe the esat small print covers it, not sure, but i know its happened to a few people.

Word History: The word ombudsman has one familiar element, man, but it is difficult to think of what ombuds could mean. Ombudsman is from Swedish, a Germanic language in the same family as English, and man in Swedish corresponds to our word man. Ombud means “commissioner, agent,”
