CLient unknown to auth

Jedi jedi posts : 240 administrator Just loaded up quake and tried to get onto the internet and im getting client unknown to auth problems. Anyone any idea how to fix this?

15/11/2005 16:29 #2 Illkillya James Galvin Entering a world of pain clan : fish heads posts : 892 site administrator ive donated to quake.ie! in q3 it was caused by cd key conflict - cd key was associated with a diff IP address, so it would just be a matter of waiting for it to time out... usually under 5mins. In q4 it is different, and I dont know what is causing it. The conflict mentioned above still occurs in q4, and even worse, but the error that it gives is not client unknown to auth.   edited by Illkillya on 15/11/2005 16:30

15/11/2005 16:35 #3 OverLord Dave Woodlock clan : n8z posts : 191 administrator if you had a trial version of q4 some people edited the HOSTS file in windows so that quake 4 couldnt find the auth server and could connect to cracked quake 4 servers.
