Id Software and Raven Software have released the first map pack for Quake 4. Its called "Quakemas Map Pack" and contains three new multiplayer maps, including a Q3DM6 remake.

Deck the halls with Rails and Rockets... id Software, Raven, and Activision have released the Quakemas Map Pack - three free new downloadable maps for QUAKE 4 on the PC. The maps - Railed, Tremors, and Campground Redux - offer all-new gameplay environments for more intense action in deathmatch, TDM, capture-the-flag and tournament combat. Have fun with the maps and stay tuned for much more in 2006!

Railed (q4tourney1) - Set in an abandoned, rusting Strogg facility, the environment in Railed produces fast paced frenetic tournament action. This new map is all about close-quarters combat and hair-trigger reflexes as players hustle through the winding, multi-tiered corridors. Designed particularly for tournament play, Railed also supports Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch game modes, and is guaranteed to provide some thrilling fast-action gameplay.

Tremors (q4ctf7) - Built within a twisting underground cavern and peppered throughout with pipes, bridges, and catwalks, Tremors demands tactical expertise. Enemies attack from above and below in the enormous, multi-tiered environment, making team-play invaluable. Tremors is perfect for huge Capture-The-Flag games, and also supports the Arena Capture-The-Flag gameplay mode.

Campgrounds Redux (q4dm9) - With QUAKE 4s updated technology, Campgrounds Redux now has a fresh look and feel, revitalizing this QUAKE III classic. Excellent for any number of players, this updated version supports Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Tournament modes, where hard-core QUAKE fans can get crazy with this throw-back to one of their old favorites.

The pack weights 23mb and can be downloaded from id Softwares FTP or from FileShack.

FileFront has a good mirrors but before the americans get home from school

Browser fix then Intel HT fix and now a map pack... come on Raven, get us the patch that we have been waiting for...

All maps run smooth on Xbattle 0.10 and Q4max with the ambient light fix... we might be getting close to a decent game

*edit*
Railed - This map is very basic and small with the rail being the all powerful control, a fun map and not so serious imho and wont get picked for tourney play

Tremors - omfg what a CTF map, a piece of art imho, looks like its going to be a very dynamic and flowing map... the weapon placements are not the greatest but it shows that you can have a very large and playable CTF map using the q4 engine

q3dm6 redux - no real changes execpt for 2 extra ledges for health removing health from other areas...

The biggest thing about the maps is the lack of stairs and Boxes (apart from Tremors base entrances) its all ramps and its all quick...

Campgrounds Redux is very nice. Definitely a map that will last I believe.

Tremrors/q4ctf7 looks excellent also. Im not sure about the gameplay yet because the map looks huge. As Threewave was working on the D3 maps, I hope they are preparing a nice big fat mappack because we need more CTF maps.

Railed might be interesting, it looks quite blend tho, lets see how it plays on 1v1.

Played 2 pickups on Tremors... people have been bitching about the size of the frontal base areas but it just adds to the gameplay...

Considering the rail is at the front of each base... if you do manage to drop the EFC, youll have to have another person grab the return, solid teamplay and communication can either have your team return or an easy re-pickup for the opposing side... there is no power-up on the map atm, and I think its fine that way... and as for the weapon placement... spot on imho..
