| Id rather arrange the q4 tournament myself so that the right maps and mod is selected else well end up with some 5 minute ffa vanillaq4 on dm17 or something.
I use steelpad S&S vinnit, mainly cause it just doesnt wear out and stays consistent.
Ive sent an email to gamecon organizers offering to run or assist with running the competition:

A bunch of the guys on Quake.ie are interested in going to quakecon but I havent seen Q4 mentioned anywhere.
Q4 out of the box was bad and didnt have any good maps. Now a few months post-release theres a good competition mod (q4max.com)
4 custom maps which are also official tournament maps at the CPL, other lan tournaments and online.
Id like to volounteer for running a quake4 tournament at gamecon using the maps and settings which are commonly used today (by fatal1ty too)
There dont need to be any prizes although I could supply some minor prizes personally but it should be recognised as an official tournament by the event.
I will participate in the event but if I happen to win prizes will go to runner-ups.
Its easy to setup the mod and install the maps on everyones machine, basically one zip file extract can do it all.
The mod and maps Id like to use:
http://www.q4max.com (chosen as the tournament mod everywhere basically, what osp was for q3)
maps:
monsoon
phrantic
galang
(as announced by cpl, clanbase, ggl etc)
Format:
1v1, earlier rounds= eliminate map (both players remove a map they dont wish to play and you play the one remaining)
for semi-finals / finals best out of 3 would be more suited (go through all 3 maps and the person who wins 2 takes it)
IF YOU ARE running a q4 tournament Id still like to assist;
to keep it inline with current rules which all the serious quake4 players are used to (guys from quake.ie)
help install maps and mods on partipants computers who are new to it
maybe give some tips to new players
and Id like to make an informative post about the rules and make it all clear way before the event so that
no one feels like theyve been practising the wrong maps in the wrong mode etc.
I hope you accept this request as I cant see any negatives about it, it will inject some fire into the quake scene in Ireland again and
boost interest, maybe then we can produce some irish fatal1tys hehe.
