I am wondering why Ireland never sends any players to events like WCG. Accordinf to google an Irish WCG team is unheard of. This is very frustrating as small nations I have never heard of manage to send people to compete. So why is this still the case and how can it be remedied?

Its because it requires some organisation to step forward and take responsibility and organise qualifiers. Ireland has participated in the CPL (Cyberathletes professional league) several times, but never in the WCG or ESWC. I think somebody looked into getting Area51 (gaming cafe in Cork) to host qualifiers, but that never happened.

Im just basing it on a post on boards.ie, where a guy from West Cork said he approached them about hosting qualifiers and they said "sounds good" but there was no follow-up.

Other countries have sponsors that pay for the teams travel expenses, and you stay in accommodation provided by the ESWC.

I did try organising this back in 2003 I think it was. I was told DNC were already sorting it out. I then went to meet Mr. DNC himself, Gery something. We had a chat. I was filled with all sorts of bullshit. In the end, after telling me they had everything under control, nothing ever happened.
