Hello,

just wondering why there are little to no Irish players who play on the excessiveplus servers for quake 3. I have only being playing quake 3 for over a year and a half now but in all this time I have only seen about two other Irish people playing on these servers and even at that they tend not to be seen again.

Have I missed something here? Berlin Underground and Dawn of Doener are the two main servers I play on as they are usually the only servers I get a decent ping on for FFA deatmatches. I get a ping of between 35 - 45 on these servers so playability is very good. I use mod pointrelease 1.32 also.

Is this version of server something that Irish Quakers do not like? Can someone advise of IP addresses where Irish quake 3 players go and compete with each other.

It seems that every nationality of Europe plays on the excessiveplus servers expect the Irish. I for the record am Irish. I need backup :-)

to answer you question with brutal honesty, no one plays it because its considered a noob gametype. most people on this site would play osp and occasionally cpma.

No worries, thanks for the gentle letdown, lol.

I am glad at least I am begining to discover where I am going wrong.

What is the difference between this and so called non noob servers. I ask this honestly cause I dont know the answer? I just got the game, loaded it and played on the first servers available. Is there a different search engine I should be using? The all seeing eye for example?

When you say most people on this site play osp and cpma, what does this mean, where are they located etc. I appreciate any feedback as I would like to start playing on these servers.

okay just got the fact osp and cpma are mods. Tis im a bit green at the gills on this to say the least.

Can someone please advise of the correct osp pack to download via a link?

What Rapp said is right - all the good players play OSP and CPMA. In Ireland, there arent too many q3 players left, but any of the regular players who still play q3 would be just OSP and CPMA Id say. OSP allows you to vote different gametypes (tdm, ctf, 1v1, ffa, clanarena, freezetag, instagib, etc.)
Try XS4ALL clanarena server and CTF servers to get a feel of the skill level.

Anyone know why i cant connect to games4 most of the time. Cant get past awaiting gamestate/challenge. This doesnt happen on any other server
