QuakeWorld community is stronger than it has been since 2000... just nobody posting on this site. Theres a handful of q3 players and maybe the odd q4 player, but not enough for a community there.

Indeed it would appear that quake scene is more active than in recent years, but its still a very clecky one which isn’t really pulling in new blood.
Sure the fact that for 5 out of 10 times going to www.quake.ie will present you with a snappy win7 page doesn’t help. I was just wondering to myself if perhaps it should merge with unreal.ie which is pretty active in comparison.
There’s people out there, its just they’ve nowhere to go when it comes to forming an Irish community again.

Eric, contact the IEDR and get them to update the DNS records.

BT wouldnt update it, theyd just request it from the IEDR

I assumed the site was dead :( Im sure others have too, and youve lost google PR

You might also need to fix the Canonical URL, once the DNS is fixed up.

well....I found this forum by typing quake.ie into opera, if thats any help.

I just cant believe quake.ie even exists - or for that matter even mentions quakeworld at all! The problem is most people think this site doesnt exist. It seems to me to need a bit of an overhaul. First impressions are I dont like the colour, and theres no cool graphics or pictures of Quake guys. Ill happily get involved here and post some news from the realm of Quake, but maybe youre restricting this to Irish Quake news about clans etc. I dont think you should though.

For this quake.ie website, I expected it to have news from all around the world of Quake, and to be a place where Irish Quakers could get together with each other and join servers. Is there even a Quakeworld server still? I hope its running ezquake! But if you dont make the whole website a sort of hub for gaining quake news and resources, like http://www.quakeone.com , then people wont come back as often to be part of the community.

So how about we kickstart Quake instead of saying "maybe it really is dying this time". Ive been part of a small Quake mod called custom Team Fortress for a while now, and in the past 6 months Ive witnessed...2 new servers spring to life, and one of those servers is running 6 different mods. I will donate, if thats what it takes, as long as we can keep servers going for as long as possible. Head to my website to see the Quake movie I made, and get yourselves back into Quake! It certainly is not dead for me, and as long as me and at least one other guy/gal are playing Quake, it wont die.

Trumad, if you look back through the archives, for years we had what you suggested on quake.ie. We had local and international quake news, news on mods, clan scene, and all general Quake stuff.
Quake.ie used to be a busy hub of activity for the Quake scene, the problem is that the admins and writers slowly became too busy and there werent any new active writers to cope with that.

The Irish Quakeworld servers (there are a couple, but one primary server in use at games1.iol.ie:28401) are running KTX I think. ezQuake is a client, so it doesnt run on the server, but you are able to use ezQuake on these servers.

Quake in Ireland doesnt need a kickstart - because it is going with some momentum (up until a few days ago there were 2 very active clans) - it needs a boost. That is, more new blood and more active players. A busy website does help this... you should speak to Mindphuck if you want to make an input to quake.ie, or Im sure you would get a lot of support if you made your own site.

Do you have a link to your video?
