Ive just moved to Dublin from Finland recently and Im having great difficulties getting internet connection to my place.. and since its going to be some probably less than impressive wireless solution, I dont have much faith in being able to play from home anytime soon. So, Im wondering if anyone knows any good gaming centers or cafes in Dublin area, ones that would have QW/Q3/Q4 on their systems.. preferrably Q3 but any of those three goes. Been trying to look for one with google and have visited a couple in the city centre, but they seemed to be crowded by CS players. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, as Im new here, Im wondering if any LAN events or such are arranged around here. Not necessarily in Dublin, but at least somewhere nearby. At least it would be an occasional chance to play some

Hey brol. If your looking for local LANs.
Then you should check out http://www.room101.org/
It has info on lans around the country.
There may not be many though with Quake in them but you should find some.

The quake scene in Ireland is very quiet these days but QW has been going through a renaissance the past several months. So if you do get set up with a connection then
you will find active quake players in the following channels on irc.quakenet.org.
#tayto #qw.ie
We play qw every night and are entered in NQR and NNQL at the moment.
So you may get an answer to your question on Internet cafes quicker there.

Irish active qw server at the moment: games1.iol.ie:28401

Hey brol... youre a bit late for the quake3 scene in Ireland unfortunately... the last of our clans died out recently. We had a LAN before Christmas at the WCG qualifiers with about 12 q3 players, but most of the LANs that are held these days on room101 would not have any hardcore Quakers. Im sure well be playing again though, I know that bch, rzelky and azghard the Polish superstars are playing a bit, and theres TIG dabbling in it from time to time. There are a bunch of other players from FH and elsewhere who will probably play on a special occasion, like for an organised game of CTF/TDM or for a LAN.

Wireless broadband in Dublin sucks... the best thing to get is Eircom DSL if you can... its a bit more expensive and its annoying that you need a phone line, but it gives good ping. How long are you going to be in Ireland for?

Dont know about gaming netcafes in Dublin - there are lots in Cork but... I think all of the ones in Dublin suck for games. Maybe ghm 5star internet cafe (google it)... I think its run by some Korean pro-gamers or something.

he is from Dublin 15, there he can get NTL conn, its cheap and good as well for playin games in europe.. maybe we could organize some LAN in May for example and play some quakes, drink some bulmers ... etc. ?

Hmm ntl is good sometimes but very bad other times... my ut2k4 teammate has NTL in Lucan and has 150ms+ everywhere... I suppose it depends on how much bandwidth is available at your exchange.

A LAN in May sounds good... will find out if theres a LAN scheduled in Dublin in May and we can get all the Quake players to go.

I dont know if wed have enough to merit a standalone QuakeLAN, which is why I thought we could all descend on some other LAN. Would be great though if we have enough... interest check:

Who would go to a Quake LAN in Dublin in May?
