so here we are then, using and abusing the fruits of eric's hard work over christmas.

been a turbulent few weeks, some more new faces added to our collection in hatstand, some small shouting matches and a resolution to chill out and remember its just a freakin' game.. and then barrysworld goes and contracts terminal money shortage.

i honestly don't know whats going to happen to the uk gaming community if bw dies, its such a focal point for all the clans and players, the leagues are pretty much accepted as the 'premier league' of the q3 community, and the bwec was a brilliant idea, i imagine it won't be too long before we have a world cup type competition.

i guess jolt, netgamesuk, wireplay and the rest will pick up the pieces, but i can't see another set of leagues with europe-wide participation arising anytime soon, which is a serious shame.

so.. on a less topical note, the hatstand clan is now rocking the world in bw, both a and b squads showing a lot of promise, and the ctf side kicking ass here and there too. even our ra3 side is doing pretty well, and most of us have sworn off that particular mod because it has one too many bugs and flaws to stick with it really. not bad considering i founded the clan just under a year ago with just me, a couple of friends from uni and mephiston that i met on irc and who proceeded to thrash the pants off me from a 33.6 connect (bast .. gained players all over the shop, but most obviously with the merging with se7en and vd, and we managed to keep the whole thing together, and now we have a huge squad of good friends to pick from (which is both good and bad, sometimes its though that only 8 people max can play in bw, per week i'm proud of what we've achieved so far, and really looking forward to seeing where it takes us all.

however, pleased as i am with the clan, i'm having to take an ever less involved role in its development at the moment, as i was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome in june 2000, which basically translates as if i walk to the kitchen and make myself some food, i'll need about 4-6hrs rest afterwards :( ah well enough feeling sorry for myself, plenty of people worse off besides i can sit back and bask in the glory of the clan *grins*

shouts to all in hatstand, past and present, the bw guys (still hoping they find a saviour at the last moment), and the irish quake scene that keeps throwing up talent to slap us about with

To see you doing your column knowing how busy you are. I envy you as I wish I could write properly instead of my garbaled mash of words

Thought I can at least contribute a little to the all singing all dancing quake.ie

As for writing properly, its an aquired skill. Besides, writing properly or not, I still get my ass kicked regularly on T4
