recently i've been feeling rather nostalgic. i found myself looking at some old quakeworld demos and felt this need, a desire if you like, to play some qw. i created all my nice shortcuts for qizmo and setup a quick config and jumped onto a server. man, what a rush!!! it felt so solid, movement crisp and precise. rockets jumps left, right and centre. quad rockets.. yes.. the power and adrenaline of having quad and crushing your opponents. and shaft.. pinning players against the wall or in the air just rocks. quick combos of launcher to shaft in mid battle... man, it felt sooo good. and when i finished the game, i had to sit back and have a smoke and just chill.

so it left me thinking, do i really want to play quake3 anymore? i just don't know to be honest. it would be nice if we could all go back in time and play quakeworld at the time where it was a fantastic scene. where teamplay didn't feel like free for alls, and when you shafted someone, it didn't feel like using a jelly on the end of a stick!.

i know that will never happen. so i look at promode. is that what i really want? or do i really want qw- for quake 3? i know one thing. quakeworld was strong. if i was any good, i'd program it myself and make a good qwq3 mod. i hold my breath for promode this friday. in the meantime, im going to post a weekly demo or site from the days of the quakeworld scene and let those brown coloured memories come back and brighten my day.

i wrote the above last year for ch-ie. i still feel the same way and the strangeness is, i'm still playing q3!! what is this attraction? i'll ponder on this some more..
