Bunny Dave Wilson posts : 148 there's quite a few timer scripts floating around at the moment, but ureal has managed to put together an external timer which is supposedly better than the current ones. however, since its an exe, theres debate over whether its a cheat or not. you can grab the timer here.

What happened creating a 25/35/120 second WAV file and triggering it to play via \play with a bind? admittedly you can't use something like that in a open plan tourney, but at home you could -- is that what some ppl in q2 used to do? (never played q2 meself) x0n

10/03/2001 #2 koopa a posts : 88 its been done, we used to do in for quad in qw (1 minute second timer), but in the end since it was banned in tournaments anyway we didnt bother doing it anymore, it wasnt something that was going to win the game for you or anything

Besides, with coaching being allowed, there is no need for a timer, providing the coach is compitent enough. Yoiu just have to wonder, unr have released a public version that sends mesages to everyonbe stating the timer is in use. Have they kept a version that keeps it's mouth shut for themselves ...

12/03/2001 #4 Sky Rick Walker posts : 90 You can hack the msg out with like 5 mins work. It was really dumb releasing it imo, 'cos it's so obviously a cheat. Timing is a skill - part of the game. Anything that reduces the skill needed, = a cheat.

As for the cheating, being an exe proggie, its a form of cheating, but then again, Qizmo and cheapo have timing features and they have been around for some time.

09/03/2001 #6 koopa a posts : 88 qizmo timing features are disabled in tournaments arent they? cheapo isnt allowed in tournaments anymore, as they stopped making it some time ago.. and all qizmo features can be turned off using serverinfo FPD by the server admin (even skins forcing can be turned off by the server if youre running qizmo)
