i have set up the details for everyone who is participating in the cpl qualifiers for the cpl holland event. take the time to have a look at the rules and the general details of the qualifier. as yet, no details of prizes, but have a look anyway.

After messing around on the machines, I don't know what everyone's bl33ting about. I tried 3 mice and drivers on 3 (identical) machines, then on the same machine without uninstalling the previous drivers, then on the same machine after installing all drivers except the ones for the mouse i was using.

I tried an Intellimouse with MS Intellipoint 3.20 software, a Logitech pilot with Logitech MouseWare 9.26 and a Boomslang 2k with Razer 2.1.00 drivers. Each driver took about 20 seconds to install, then a reboot (plus like 5 seconds to run ps2rate on the intellimouse).

I then installed the Intellipoint drivers over the Logitech drivers without incident. It felt exactly the same as the intellimouse machine next to it; the MS drivers just took over the Logitech drivers. I then tried installing the Razer drivers over the Logitech and MS drivers, which worked fine.
Then I uninstalled the MS drivers on the intellimouse machine and installed the Logitech MouseWare. Again, this caused no problems. I tried out the 3 mice with each others drivers as well, and each worked fine with other drivers (except for the boomslang not having proper sensitivity control without its own drivers).

So that leaves me to believe the only problem with people un/installing drivers and mice is the time factor, which is fairly minimal anyway (2 minutes if you know what you're doing?) Since noone is going to give a shit about the FFAs, I think we should at least be able to use our own mice for duels. Also, there are enough PCs to be able to e.g. have some dedicated intellimouse machines and some dedicated logitech ones.

Eric, rethink the decision about the mice. Its ruining this event. Its more hassle to let people use their own drivers, but it can be organised. i.e. have designated machines for different types of mice. Drivers can be uninstalled, etc, etc.

Its like this, the rules you see at the moment are drafted rules from the prior cpl event. These can be changed.

Secondly, I went out of my way to run this, I didnt even go to the last one, but its like this, if you lot are gonna be wankers about rules and start bl33ting that you are and arnt going to play cos you dont have your best toy, then you know where the door is.

Im very flexable about the rules, but I wont be held gunshot about wether players are gonna play or not.

If you don't let people install drivers, just plug in their mice, whats so wrong with that?

ppl will still complain if they cant install drivers. Diff drivers pic up sensitivitys in q3 diffrently.

I think the idea of haveing diff putters specifily for each mouse might be a better idea.

Or else having an admin present when even it comes to installing drivers, tho i dont think there'll be enuff admins around to do that.

I said in previous posts that I dont mind people using diferent mice, but the concern that I have is that the drivers people install may screw up the machine for the next person. I asked in previous posts what it was that we can do to resolve this, but I didnt exactly get a lot of response from you guys.

No one treatening you in any way or holding you to at gunpoint. We using this column to voise our opinions about the the upcoming event. The last event was totally frustrating for non intelli mouse players. An such an advantage to those who use the mouse every day of the week. I really want to play in the event but I feel i will do my self no justice by playing under the present mouse ruling. I'll still go along to watch the proceedings as i have a great interest in the event and will definitely go to the event in holland when it comes around but I'm not going to the event to be beaten by people i know i could normally beat on my own setup. Thats all. If help is needed in admining I will help no problem.

Ok an idea then to resolve the issue. I dont think anyone minds what mouse they use for the ffa rounds as its just the seeding part of the comp. But after the ffas. Take a 30-60 mins break before 1v1s start and replace 6-8 pcs with logitech mice. Then restart the 1v1 stage. Give people 10mins to warm up before each 1v1 make slight adjustments to mouse and run around, then start match. Keep these logitech pcs logitech only for the whole event. Thats will mean peope will not have to install mouseware everytime etc. Just a thought.

A voice of reason. Excellent Idea Tom. We'll do that so. Anyone see any problems with this idea ?

Well if this format is going to be used then i think everyone will re enter the comp. Count me in then. Thx for changing the rule it will make thing all the more competitive . Slap my name down to help at the event too.
