| all around the irish quake sites exists an echo saying that irish quake is dead and full of contempt. perhaps the problem with irish quake, is that there are so few of us.
if you look overseas at any country in particular, there are thousands of players, but here in ireland we wouldn't have any way near even one hundred players. any tiffs that occur are straight away in the public eye, and are hot news to everyone. anyone who sees whats going on then take sides or posts their opinion, or who simply post something irrelevant just to feel a part of it, like an attention seeker or something.(are these me feet? or am i just a newbie?)
zero made a comment before about cloak and dagger type crap going on. he has a serious point and nobody can deny it though, it's always so political as to who you talk to or who you play or don't play. it's not as simple to organise a war as it is in the uk or on the continent, and any games that are played, result in an immediate public broadcast. demos are posted, gloating columns are written, and excuses are made. the likes is always found on any irish quake page you look at.
the irish quake community is the smallest around, but given all due respect they put the most effort into the game and into the scene. but, the fact remains that there is so little going on, and so much focus, that everyone feels obliged to put on a show. the irish q3 community is unique and has so much character that it can't be likened to any other country.
we all have our differences and opinions, some more note-worthy than others. there always has and always will be the rivalry between the top few clans in the country, and i am quite proud to be a part of it. nd can be noted for making themselves heard in any controversy, and nobody can deny that they do. everyone in nd are great mates and we will all stand up for each other no matter what. admittedly we don't play as often as we'd like to, but anyone involved in team3.ie training knows exactly what we have to go through to get a game online. people can mouth about us not playing, can call us inactive or whatever. but let the truth be known, nd do exist, and nd are damn good. we may not have the best players in the country but we sure do gel well together. the reason nd have to shout as loud as they do, is to be heard above the clans who are online every night. perhaps it's because we don't want anyone to forget we exist.
i know i for one, love to contibute to any argument, and i love more than that to have a go at jedi, but that is just fun and no matter what he or anyone else think, i do respect the guy, and if i met him in a pub, i know i'd shake his hand and maybe even buy the guy a pint. he has done wonders for irish quake in the past, and lets face it, if he hadn't yoinked all the good players in the country and formed ps, then the rest of us would have nothing to aim towards, and the skills of irish players wouldn't be as high as they are. tom, straight up, i'm sorry about that attack on irc and for any 'low' remarks i may have made in the past, but rest assured that i will continue to slag your spelling mistakes.
mike, i think you are owed as much gratitude as jedi for what you have done in the past for irish quake, fair play on the league. i do think that you are being a tad purile about the whole 'i'll stay out of quake.ie from now on' thing. come back and show us that bio have got balls. play us monday night for this invite that el_pres so generously organised for the irish. we can use that invite to put some real flame into the irish quake3 scene, lets not waste it. there really is no point in shying away from the irish scene.
jedi said before on irc, and i'd have to agree, that no matter what is said online, at the end of the day, everyone still goes off to the pub to get wrecked together. (i don't think he was serious at the time, but the important thing is that he was right.) any quake players that have been around since the stone age know that when we meet up in person, we all act differently. all the contempt gets put on the sideline once we hit the pub. when it comes to trinlan, you can count your chickens that everyone who has ever had a difference with anyone else will be found in the same pub having a laugh. i know nd will have 2 teams there and we'll be drinking there beside ps, regardless of our online ethos. that's the great thing about irish quake though, at the end of the day, and after all the grudges, we still all have a laugh and get langers together. anyone who thinks different then is obviously too new and naive to realise this. back in the day, quake in ireland was played purely for a laugh and and perhaps the whole scene is still running on the steam of memories held by the older players. any newbies couldn't possibly understand this though, i mean look at mindphuck, this whole site is a result of his love for the game which was moulded a long time ago, and to be honest, fair fucks to him! but all the younger lads just take it for granted. without quake.ie we would be reduced to tolerating the posts from daire and damo on the boards.(feel free to post a constructive comment or ten lads)
okay so my dribble has gone on for longer than i intended and if you have read this far, thanks...
rest assured irish quake is far from dead it just needs a bit of spice every once and a while. the only thing that remains to be said is om nyom nyom!!
