the q3 leagues started this week, all on the same day for fh. originally we had 6(!) games scheduled for the same night, 5 of them on dm7, but some skillful rescheduling sorted that out. we got awful ping to savage servers (net-games uk). i saw acid's ping using eircom the night before from gamespy and it was fairly good, so me and bug were on eircom and ping started off at 100, then ingame ended up closer to 200. dest was on buyandsell and for the first time ever, he had the best ping of all of us (he usually pings 90 even to irish servers, so he was happy with his ping of 130). spoonman was lucky to see his ping drop below 160, and it was over 200 during fights. so aaaargh! we won't be able to play in savage anymore, i always knew eircom was unreliable, but that was so bad that we would have been better off playing on modem. i'm really looking forward to the smooth barrysworld servers.

trinlan was very worthwhile - it was good to see all the dublin scumbags with their dirty monitors. i didn't have my own computer there, so fh only got to play 2 4v4's, but the game against acid was one of the most enjoyable games i've ever played. (i would say the ps game was good, but i was stuck on a 30fps machine with no headphones... and we got raped). it was soo nice to play on ping of 15, i'll definitely have to play more on lan in the future, even if its a duel or a 2v2 at nexlan (everyones invited ). it would be handy if there was a nice big quake lan somewhere closer to cork.... /me looks at map... limerick looks perfect... pity they don't actually play quake there
