there have been loads of articles lately detailing the best mice on the market at the moment. the ms intellimouse explorer 3.0 and the logitech mouseman duel optical in particular have been subject to much scrutiny lately, and i know a lot of irish players have been using the former with mixed reactions.

heres the first review i've read that does not recommend the explorer 3.0 for gaming, instead it rates the common logitech pilot wheelmouse usb as the best for q3, the one with the ball innit... my mouse :d (altho i think i have an older version). the allegedly skippy logitech mouseman dual optical comes in second place. its written by a guy with small hands called stony on xsreality (which has been churning out a lot of well researched news-worthy articles lately).

anyway, after reading this, i'm thinking of sticking with the mouse i have atm, so read the article and tell me if stony knows what hes talking about.

i need a mouse that has weight in it, i hate
super light, slippery mice, i cant aim with them
i have the intellimouse explorer (original) didnt
like that although i got used to it for like 6 months,
then i bought a logitech optical wheel mouse, which was
to light also, couldnt aim worth shit with it
-right now im using a regular logitech ball mouse because it isnt ultra light.
the moseman duel optical looks like it has it weighs more thats why im interested in it =P

that article seems very logitech biased to me. I think i'm going to purchase the intellimouse 3.0, been hearing a lot of good things about it. All of QPO use it, and lots of top players in the uk use it... and say its the bizness.

If it doesn't work out sure fuckit, i'll get a logitech instead.

ive been talking to stony, he doesnt know what he is on about
especially about the whole usb vs ps2 thing, i had to make him see it my way. and he did eventually (ps2 is better)
he's right about one aspect of the exp-3.0 though, the pads at the bottom are sticky, solution is to get a slidey mousemat.
the entire SK team used 6000hz mice for their win in clanbase(?) so it seems most of the top quakers disagree with him.

i have the ms intelli explorer 3.0 for about a week now and it think its the shit, much better than my intelli ball, only problem i have with it is the feet, even on my everglide the feet stick and are already scratched to shit. I took the feet off my intelli ball and stuck them on the optical and now it's very slick . A really cheap job however must get those mouse skatez at some stage.

take off the feet, theyre only glued on,

cut the white plastic strips from another (older) mouse into two, and stick them on in the place of the originals on the explorer 3.0
works slightly better then

I got the intelli yesterday, havent play a lot with it yet, but it seems to be class. I used to use a logi mouseman but was told the MS intelli was better than the mouseman 2x optical, in that it won't Z on u, i.e. when you move it fast it doesnt do the "Z" motion on the screen.

like i said, i have only had the mouse a day. as far as im currently concerned, the best mouse on the planet is the now-obsolete logitech mouseman wheel. the gobshites, how could they do that?
this time next week i might be saying the same about this intelli. i dunno, looks hopeful.

Dunno what why people are having problems with the feet. You heard of mousemats yes?

Ive been using the new Explorer3 for a month now and its by far, the best mouse I've played with to date.

Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong with this mouse, its certainly up there with the top ones.

awww....I had the logi set up properly on my PC, but then for some reason mwheelup/down didnt work in q3, but did in everythin else, dunno why. Anyhoo, with the extra button on this one along with the wheelup/down working, the choice is mental for buttons, like button1, 2, 3, 4, 5, wheelup and wheeldown. fuckin class.

I've been using the dual optical for 2 months or so and it works perfect, i've always hated optical mice but i love this one. A few things u have to consider 1)They dont like shiny surfaces and also if u have a micky mouse mousemat ie lots of diffrent colours on it 2)It works alot better when plugged into the usb port than ps/2, if u use ps/2 the dpi will drop from 800 to 400.
Mine works great my aim is very flicky and it never fucks up the way i have it set up
Zero: the mouse wheel prob happens with all logi mice, u need to d/l the game wheel fix from logi's site. It says its for win98/nt only but works in win2k also

dual optical is a bit on the heavy side......
WHY>?
because there is some stupid metal bar attached to the shell....unscrew it and it'll be 25% lighter

I bought the MS Explorer and was unhappy with it, tis chunky (but light) tacky looking thing that looks more at home in a toys-r-us store then on anyones desk.
People see the red light on it and fall in love, thats about all I can make out, the side button is positioned badly, and its just huge.
Mind you I havent tried version 3... I bought a duel optical instead, will test it and give feedback.

Mx 500 this looks to be a good mouse for right handed cunt0rs.

Mx 300 this looks to be the job for us lefties.

Mx Optical Engine some speel on how it works and how great it is, blah blah yackedy smackedy
