M1ke Michael Breen posts : 288 barrysworld is now peered directly to eircom via the london internet exchange. i've done a few tests and the hops have been cut from 13 to 8, very impressive indeed and only 2 hops off slosh.ign.ie so very playable. i also didn't experience any of the packetloss or lag spikes of last week. thanks go to bigfoot at barrysworld for sorting us all out. bring on the euroctf

28/01/2002 #7 M1ke Michael Breen posts : 288 overall with less hops you'll see much much improved stability which is just as important as a decent ping. N/s i'd tracert your connex, it sounds dodgy m8 Eircom/Dub Indigo/Dub sweet pings on the server not just in dos.

29/01/2002 #10 anonymous The peering should only effect Eircom and its "sub" ISPs, any others having problems do a traceroute to 213.221.174.36 and drop me a copy and i'll pass it on. Now we are peered if you are on Eircom and having problems there is a good chance that this is due to Eircom. bigfoot

31/01/2002 #16 Jay Dave Jeffreys posts : 178 It would be nice if they'd peer with esat too, then I could play from work. As it is I have to live with a 30 ping from work, but it goes over 18 hops.... so it's not a very reliable connection, prone to packet loss etc. making it not much fun.
