Jedi jedi posts : 240 administrator read this over on shacknews. theres a plan to bring out another update for quake3 because of the growing issue with cheating. i myself have noticed quite a few aimbots flying around as of late and welcome this update. this is what robert duffy of id software had this to say; just a quick note on future releases for quake 3 arena. we will be releasing a new point release in the relatively near future which includes a handful of fixes and updates and also includes full punk buster integration to combat cheating. no firm date on when this will be out but it should not be too far off.

I can tell you you will not be able spot it either unless its a newbie using it. The one i have can be tweaked for every weapon. If you want a 100% rail then you set the config file to 100 and if you want say 52% then you slap in that number. also the same occurs with machine gun. You can set it to 50 or what ever number and your accuracy % will be with in that % +- about 5. So trust me if you use it on medium settings people dont ask questions. I played a guy on an osp ffa game over here. He has 130ping and in the game he got 92% rail. Like fuck me thats using a bot stupidly. I also played on that same server another night and a guy got 65% rail. Like this is v good but not an impossible feat. Very hard to prove hes using an aimbot but you might have suspitions. I havent seen the seeing enemy health one but i have also seen the wall hacks. Some fucked up shit out there at the moment.

I was at a lan last weekend and Exodus from challenge-us was working on his article on spotting OGC aimbot. There are a lot of telltale signs that make it obvious, I'm not going to list them here because his article will be up soon and I'll link to it.
