i'm hoping someone can help me out here. i have changed my config in the last week or so and am having a few problems.

i have changed my weapon binds to read the following.

bind q "weapon 1 ; cg_drawcrosshair 1 ; cg_fov 105 ; cg_crosshairsize 30" // gauntlet
bind a "weapon 2 ; cg_drawcrosshair 4 ; cg_fov 90 ; cg_crosshairsize 40" // mg (machine gun)
bind w "weapon 3 ; cg_drawcrosshair 1 ; cg_fov 105 ; cg_crosshairsize 30" // sg (shot gun)
bind v "weapon 4 ; cg_drawcrosshair 1 ; cg_fov 105 ; cg_crosshairsize 30" // gl (granade launcher)
bind t "weapon 5 ; cg_drawcrosshair 1 ; cg_fov 105 ; cg_crosshairsize 30" // rl (rocket launcher)
bind g "weapon 6 ; cg_drawcrosshair 1 ; cg_fov 90 ; cg_crosshairsize 30" // lg (lightning gun)
bind r "weapon 7 ; cg_drawcrosshair 4 ; cg_fov 90 ; cg_crosshairsize 40" // rg (rail gun)
bind w "weapon 8 ; cg_drawcrosshair 1 ; cg_fov 105 ; cg_crosshairsize 30" // pg (plasma gun)
bind z "weapon 9 ; cg_drawcrosshair 1 ; cg_fov 105 ; cg_crosshairsize 30" // (bfg)

this is exactly what i was looking for and the fov changes etc have improved my game. unfortunetly for some reason when i change from say;

rocket launcher which is fov 105, crosshair 1, crosshairsize 30
to
machine gun which is fov 90, crosshair 4, crosshairsize 40

i get a momentary freeze in the game which fucks me up if in middle of fight.

has anyone seen this. if you have any ideas i'd be glad of the help.

when u make any kind of fov changes u should make mouse sensitivity changes as well like----
bind mouse 2 "weapon 2;cg_fov 60;cg_drawgun 0;sensitivity 5.5;cg_comblood 0;cg_drawcrosshair 5"
something like that remeber ur mouse accelration(seta cl_mouseaccel "?") setting and what kind of mouse u have depends on the sensitivity --- happy hunting --- our server ip is 209.74.138.78:27960 its a 1.32 ctf server come play sometime

just checking Sam's config i see he has his weapon binds slightly different.
He uses VSTR with his weapons binds.

I'm not config guru but maybe this is what i need to do. Sam are you there .

i use pretty much the same as you have up there tom and it works grand (i use 90 with the railgun and 100 with everything else and i have different crosshairs too n that).

i'll send ye my config next time i see ye around

yeah i use the same, i dont change my fov, but i use different crosshairs, crosshairsizes and crosshaircolors for each weapon. What ure talkin about sounds familiar but I dont get it atm. maybe my machine was slow at the time.

it's cos the thing has to load the weapon model even tho it doesnt use it i think. i have the same problem at work, the fov isnt the problem, as i dont use it. well i think it is (the slow machine) anyhow.

its unusual alright, since I use something like that, based on sam's config.. but my sucky machine is only a p3 450 and I experience no freeze in fights. It takes time to change a weapon, maybe the crosshair and fov change first, before the weapon is loaded?

i use the set and vstr commands but i get that freeze too. although for me it only happens the first couple times i switch weapon and then seems to disappear. ive stopped using fov changes though, i dont remember if it happened when i was usin em.

im using sams config pretty much just a few changes and i dont get any freeze, i change fov and sens for differerent weapons. Just try editing sams config with ure own settings and see does it work better.

actually now that i think of it i'm using a version of sams config too(minus the shizco inverted mouse setting heh), probably why i get no freezes .... must be something l33t in there.
