| "So when your clique decided it was over then that was the end of Irish Q3 - I suppose you own the Internet and hide it in a box underneath your stairs"
I'll start with you Searry. What part of what I said are you disputing? The fact that Rapp is right about the Irish q3 scene being completely gone, or the fact that benji never saw it? At least benji has some claim to dispute the latter, seing how occasionally a modem BenjiSPENDLOVE appeared on IRC, but I will get to that later. Perhaps you think the Irish q3 scene is vibrant at the moment? I will also get to that later.
I would like to address your tone firstly, which I believe harbours a hint of hostility. I am interested in this 'clique' of mine that you refer to. I have never had a clique before so I'm really excited to hear about this one. Can you tell me who else is in it?
BTW, I don't think we were ever introduced properly... are you *NemesiS*' buddy from that LAN? What is causing your hostile tone? If you are an aliaser who used a different nick back when there was still an Irish q3 scene, then what was that nick? If not then the closest thing you came to seeing the Irish q3 scene is when Koopa went down there to win some money from your clique. Can my clique fight your clique? Who else is in your clique? Maybe we could give €200euro to the winner?
"your unreal killy, just because u stopped playing q3 doesnt mean its dead, u gave up and stopped playing and its still going now and tbh maybe i didnt see the quake scene but i did see the q3 scene as ive been playing online since 2000 and the game was out in what? 99? so i missed the first year wow, and i got the next 4-5 years"
Benji, firstly who said that the reason tht the Irish q3 scene is gone is because I stopped playing? That never occurred to me, although I'm flattered that the thought occurred to you. In fact, the opposite is almost true, that I nearly stopped playing because the Irish q3 scene was dead. As it happens, I still play, and I played every single game for TS this season, except for last week when I had a power cut right before the game. As it happens, I even play TDM in leagues for a UK team. I even have the odd game outside of leagues. This makes your statement look a bit stupid, but thats what most people would expect from you.
The rest of your post is very muddled, please take deep breaths and try to remain calm when typing your response. (Punctuation helps.) I hate to have to repeat it for you benji, but you missed the Irish q3 scene. I know it might hurt, but its silly to deny it by saying that you have been playing online for 5 years. FH was well established when friends of dest found their way onto q3 servers, and when yourself and Jimpoo eventually founded Jobos, iirc it was early 2003, or late 2002 at best - feel free to search the quake.ie news archive.
Of course, lets argue for the sake of retardedness that you HAVE been active in the Irish scene for nearly 5 years. You patiently queued while both quake3-1.ign.ie and quake3-2.ign.ie were full. You were privileged to partake in the first IQ3CL - the Irish Quake 3 Clan league. Which clan did you play for at the time?
se7en?, dk?, IR?, 4p?, H?, DF?, HIV?, DZR?, BiO? You must been in CM or EED who unfortunately pulled out. This is when q3 was at its height, and if you didn't see it at its height, then you really can't judge how far it has fallen. For somebody living in Bray, you attended surprisingly few LANs at the time. ShadowLAN, AniLAN, Trinlan 1, and Trinlan 2, the CPL qualifiers... even I managed to get to Dublin for some LANs, all the way from Cork.
You were lucky to be around early enough to watch the Nations cups when they actually meant something. The organisation and effort put into these competitions by all nations shames anything you see these days, in a competition which is now just a chance for division 3 standard players to boast about their default win over their neighbouring country. (You can put that on your CV too.) You must have been one of the dozens of Irish players following the online qualifiers against Spain and Portugal, or the LAN games against the 4k-heavy English team on dm14 on LAN, losing out in the best of 3 despite a great win in one of the games.
The rivalries - some friendly, some not so friendly; se7en-PS, PS-nD (leading to the showdown at Trinlan), and later BiO-FH and FH-Acid. The RA3 server, meeting new enthusiastic Irish players.
Later on there was IQ3CL2 - when BiO, despite being mostly UK players, could still field 4 Irish players - simo, skelter, mike, jedi and one or two others. FH ticking away despite the connections, nD looking good, Acid, PS, and even HIV and IR giving it a bash. There were quake.ie cups, tdm and ctf, Savage-euro, Irish teams in Clan-Wars leagues, Wireplay leagues, cups, Barrysworld, UKCCL mixed, modem, lpb league, UKS League, 1v1 leagues, ffa leagues, and others. Irish people playing in top division UK clans, and scattered throughout the divisions.
By the time you had a clan tag with Jobos, the Irish q3 scene was already dead. For YEARS, FH had been the only consistent representation we had in leagues. One clan does not constitute a 'scene'. FH tread water for a long time, hoping that there might be some revival. There were several attempts, and although they tower over the miserable scattering of players that benji and Searry like to call 'the Irish q3 scene', it was practically nothing. I could go on forever but I think you get the point...
"so if ur gonna say i missed ther q3 scene then u missed the quake scene as u werent there from 1996 so stfu tbh"
.... of course I missed the Irish quake scene. By the time I started playing regularly in 1999, there were only a handful of clans, very few pracs, and only the odd Irish league left. I could do the benji and point out that I once connected to a server in 1996, and hence I have been playing for 9 years, but that would be stupid. Its nothing to be ashamed of, so theres no need to take offence, so I don't know where the 'stfu tbh' is coming from.
And theres no Irish q2 scene either, if that answers your question quetzal. A couple of lads playing occasionally down in UL does not change that.
