MindPhuck Eric Mooney Im drinking stuff donated to quake.ie clan : n8z posts : 1267 site owner jedi sends word that ps have been invited for the next clan base eurocup. concerns about the clans connection problems or lack of decent connects leaves ps looking for players from nd to fill their ranks for the competition. a suggestion has been made that nd replace ps. another suggestion is team.ie take their place. i think, regardless of what form it takes, it would be a shame to let such an invitation to go to waste due to connectivity problems. personally, i think they should create a new clan just for the league. your thoughts?

I don't think anyone wants to ferry PCs around the place or go to Dublin and not be able to play on your own PC. I think the best of PS should merge with the best of nD, and call it PMS. Playing from UL shouldn't be a problem (-sonic?), and chris and nicky are already down here. Perhaps the team would be Ser, Beast, Koopa and Bunny. But that depends on whether Koopa and Bunny could come down here long term. (as is planned).

Team can consist of Beast, elpres, jedi, ser from PS and Jay, Bunny, overlord, podgeen, koopa, Sonic and Zero from nD. We should be able get 4 players anynight of the week if this happens. I can come to UL for some games. When I cant then there will be plenty of people to take place. I'm not too sure if Godsmurf will go for this but I can always ask if we agree on this. PMS is fine for a name. SO please make your mind up quick what you want to do there are announcing groups next week. Also from what i gathered from Godsmurf we will be put ing a group with similar pings to ourselves. E.g portual and spain. So if this is the case it will be similar to BWEC and we may have a decent chance.

Tell Godsmurf you're on for it, but that PS want to enter as a different name or some shite like that. We'll work on a name, no biggie, and get organised. We dont have to be all 20ping constantly, we have ureself, andy, woody and sam on ISDN always if it comes down to it. We get good pings from here thru the proxy, usually 35-50. We'll make a proper stab at it, should be able to whup a few teams even if we dont get too far. Ro.

There's a few things I have to point out : If we do this thing, I know it's sposedly "all for Irish Quake" and the practise etc., but it's basically a fuckload of work for me, Sonic and the lads. First off, we have to lend people machines, I have to drive them up to the college, we have to set them up, take them down etc etc. That's not that big a deal, although I think some people have to bear in mind that Sonic, however generous and obliging the guy may be, he's nobody's slave even though he has been treated like one before. What it comes down to is this, we don't mind bending over for Team.ie or for nD, but believe it or not, Sonic, Gman, Podgeen, Myself etc do actually play Quake when we aren't posting bullshit up here. nD has nine members, a Quake3 team has four players. Quite a few nD players didn't get a fair crack of the whip in the last league, we ended up putting our first team forward for an awful lot of games, it was our first league, we wanted to make an impression, which is surely understandable. If we go and do this thing, there will more than likely be seven nD players not getting games, those seven being the ones who are expected to book rooms, haul machines, lend machines etc. I'm not doing this because of any "uh-uh nD-PS" bullshit, and I appreciate that it would be good for the Irish to get a team into the Eurocup, but basically the next league we are in, our talented players who havent yet had a chance, like Guinnessman, Sonic, Wario etc are going to be playing their fair share of games, we aren't going to be a team that stands on the currently weaker players to keep the top 4 or 5 going, because we aren't just a team, we are now a group of good mates too, and since I more or less run nD, at least I usually have the final say, I'm not about to ask the lads to go through all that shite again without even getting a game. So I'm sorry, nD won't merge with PS for the Eurocup. I think if PS wanted to be decent about it, if they cant get players on the net, they should tell Godsmurf that they can't take part in the league, and should give nD the chance.
