Spaceman Paddy Conway The Dude Abides clan : fish heads posts : 266 administrator heard this on jo duffy today. a blind woman rang in to say that eircom offer a service to blind people where they get a pin number for using when ringing directory enquires so they wont be charged for the call "but" (and its a doozey of a but) they won't connect the call for them, like they normally do, therefore rendering the service useless as the blind person is unable to write the number down and dial it for themselves. if that doesn't sum eircon up i don't know what does

I've been trying to get broadband for the last 5 months now...on a line that passed the tests before I tried to order it. My neighbours lines on either side of me both pass the test, however mine doesn't any more. Numerous phone calls later......wankers won't even respond to the 10+ E-MAILS that i've sent them........I've been told that the reason for this is that I live in a parallel fuckin universe and my house is connected to a different exchange than the rest of my neighbours......I'm at the end of my fuckin patience now.....anyone managed to get this problem solved as i know i'm not alone jonny2348

11/07/2004 18:19 #11 anonymous I had a CS clan meet this weekend and i could'nt connect to any CS servers, i typed it into a search engine also, Eircom need a fuckin kick up the ass, someone should really sue them, they deserve it no question, they provide such a low-quality service at such high-prices with scapegoat support that im seriously thinking of switching to a different broadband ISP... thomashood10

02/09/2005 19:56 #14 anonymous Fucking hell Ireland has become such a fucking piss hole, everything is so fucking expensive, the government are fucking jacking us and making decisions without us, the services are about as fucking shoddy as fuck, eircom, ntl, every irish service i've used i've had to call up support in one form or another, FUCKING HORRIBLE range of college courses, and i mean seriously fucking horrible compared to most UK colleges, impossible to get fuking insurance if your male nowadays, costs a fucking fortune, I swear to god, when im able to, im moving to America or England as soon as possible, My predictions for this once beautiful country, jobs get fucking scarce cause of the foreigners, not that i have anything against them but lets face it thats whats gonna happen, so thousands will emmigrate to america or UK lets fucking face it people EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE HOUSES, INSURANCE, ETC LABOUR IS CHEAP SERVICES ARE USELESS TECHNOLOGY IS BELOW PAR AS IT IS GOVERNMENT IS A JOKE OVER POPULATION IS HIGHLY LIKELY, DUE TO DUBLIN BEING THE ONLY FUCKING REAL CITY. How the fuck did we manage to ourselves here, I swear to god, were a fucking joke of a country atm, we have no pride anymore, Having a drink in the pub used to be a cultural event in Ireland, no it's fucking shunned and lets face it if it was up to the government they'd fucking ban drink too. fuck modern day ireland, im sick of it's shit... anonymous

22/02/2005 22:10 #16 anonymous I am frankly stunned that I've remained online long enough to post this complaint. I moved from Derry to Quigley's Point Donegal less than a year ago. It's only a difference of 10 mile but my God, a world...no...a universe of difference when it comes to phone and Internet access. Eircom cut us off over Christmas because we paid them with a sterling cheque, they said it would take 3 weeks to clear, it's not like it's the currency of outer Mongolia! So then they said they didn't get the cheque, we asked the bank, it had been dispatched and cleared but Eircom couldn't find it. We had to pay the bank a tenner to cancel the cheque. Our next piece of advice was to pay, by cash at the p.o. and ring them with the number on the reciept, easy...only I'd no phone! Eventually got it knocked back on, after almost 3 weeks! The Internet access is a joke. We were with utv and thought it was their fault and that they were a crap server but oh no....we changed to Eircom and the problem persists. EVERY time I log on the minute I go to change page, I get booted off....constantly. I find myself praying to the God of eircom, but realised there is no God!!! I'm at the end of my tether, I'm doing an English degree and rely heavily on my pc and the Internet and I'm never on long enough to gain access to anything I need. I'll just slope off into a corner now and pull my hair out in embittered frustration. Thanks for listening to my rant!! ursula

05/05/2005 01:18 #19 anonymous I worked for Eircon for nearly 4 years, and they are everything theyre accused of on here. The calls made to you are made from the TSS section, in this section the agents are all so disgruntled that 80% of new employees leave within 3-6months, they had to get in another company to take over the HR to try and fix that problem, but... The reason people are leaving is that the calls are made by an automated dialler system, the call just pops up on screen, then the agent asks for the name on screen and conducts the call-easy, youd think. I have been made call customers who couldnt get DSL to sell them DSL, customers who dont make voice calls to sell them talktime, which-if you do the math (ie, take away the 24.18 for rental from the package cost and then divide the minutes into the leftovers) works out more expensive per minute for pack 2 & 3 than on pack 1 & 4, and if youre not making national calls, these are actually more expensive than standard local calls.. I was also frequently made call customers who were logged on the very same system as Do Not Call or DNC customers, in otherwords, if you excercise your right to request no further contact, the agent will record you as same (if theyve been shown how-most arent) but the marketing department-who create the lists of who gets called and who doesnt, will ignore your wishes so theres no point in asking. I left Eircom because I tried within my limited capacity to get something done about this and I was getting nowhere but victimised for speaking out. Please, if Eircom have done this to you, or anything else, get onto Comreg and the Minister for Communications, because eircom is not alone in doing this, but theyre certainly doing it on a larger scale ex eircom staff
