here it is, the long awaited dundalk lan 3.

it'll be a 11 hour lan from 12pm sunday 25th of january in the fairways hotel. we only have 22 places available for the event so get in quick!!

the cost is just €5 per person and of course it is a byoc event.

i will have a 10/100mb 24 port switch for the day and should also have a 16port back up just in case after what happened @ dundalk 1, if anyone has a projector and is will to bring it please let me know.

games:

counterstrike 1.6 offline version 6
generals zero hour
age of mythology - titans v1.01
halo(make sure it has the most recent update)
unreal tournament
quake3 - pointrelease v1.32

halo, quake iii and unreal tournament will be played at the same time.
zero hour and aom will be played at the same time also.
note: need to confirm version for unreal
as it gets closer to the event teams will be assigned for all games. cs will be played using clan match rules, 4 pseudo clans will be created for the day. halo will be capture the flag, map to be agreed. maps & where appropiate teams for the other games also need to be arranged but i will let you know soon.

please have all games you intend to play installed & working on your machine before the event if possible. you can email me to arrange getting 1.6 offline exe.

the sessions
first: counterstrike 1.6(approx 2 hours)
second: zero hour & aom(approx 5 hours)
third: halo, unreal 2k3 & quake iii(approx 3.5 hours)

now i don't mean to whine but i am going to be very strict about this because nothing got to me more the last day than this, i want all atendees to stick to the sessions, while everyone is playing cs i don't won't a tiny group off playing another type of game simply because they don't like the game. if there is another game propose it to be before the event and i see what the demand is like for it. the whole point of going to a large lan is to play together.

requirements:

a decent pc of course using either windows 2k or xp.
network cable of decent length, like this is a big room so a good few meters.(cat 5 or better).
power entension leed.
headphones(no speakers!)
money for food and drink.

if you need anymore information please don't hesitate to contact me @ tyax @ tyax_cs : at : vodafone : dot : ie or pack3t3rror @ pack3t3rror : at : hotmail : dot : com

- i ask that everyone who signs up indicate if they are definate or not and that they ensure their systems are viri free and that thier hardware is in working order. also please indicate which games you intend to play. set up should take 30 minutes tops!! you will be emailed your ip address when you sign up.

- i want to try and make this into a regular event, bi-monthly or something so if successful i will try and make this arrangement a permanent one with the hotel.

we have now got sponsorship from the dkit which means these lans will now become a regular event here in dundalk, probably monthly. unfortunately there will still be a fee, €5 for this event(which lets be honest is very cheap). all proceeds will go towards purchasing a society owned dedicated server and since the switch belongs to me after that a society owned switch aswell. this equipment will mean that next college year the society will be able to have another series of events after i've left.
.

When we play generals zero hour on LAN, as soon as a large number of units start to move from multiple bases at the same time there is an error saying that there is a problem with overheating and maybe virus. Any ideas on how to fix it and i dont want a bullshit answer saying its something to do with AMD.

It appears to be a bug in the game code. Remember, Google is your friend. EA seem to have a few suggestions here but I don't see anyone jumping up and down for joy coz it has fixed their problem, so it may not work in all cases

We've had one or two problems with Zero Hour ourselves. Andrew's computer seems to be the best server so far, so we might go with that. The problem we experience most frequently is "Loss of synchronisation". The only time I've experienced the overheating error is while watching a replay! Anyway, this game will be way shorter than you expect - when we woop your ass after 30 minutes!

Ok lads, just so you know we are in conference rooms 6 & 7. When you pull into the hotel on the Dublin road side turn right at the main enterence and circle around to the new car park. Just before the new circular shaped enterence at the back you will see a gate at your left hand side which should be open. You will not be able to drive in there. If you walk down there the 5th door on your right should be open and we will be in there. Try and arrive as early as possible, the sooner we get set up the sooner I can start whiping your asses in CS, Zero Hour and Halo. I'd prefer not to email or post my mobile no as I had it changed recently due to prank calls but all of you know someone who has it anyway so you can get them to call me if you are having trouble finding the place. Kaks, Pack3t3rroR, Bastidus Madimus, Gollywog & Mr Argry have my number. Oh and it looks like it is ok for me to be there on Sunday now, thanks be to f*ck..... I look forward to seeing you all there....
