- but desert combat, q3, cs, call of duty, enemy territory and a myriad of rts games seem to be popular
requirements:

your box and everything needed to game
transport - the venue is a bit outside the city
10/100mbit network card
a 10m+ length of cat5 network cable if you prefer, i will supply you with a cable if needed
4-way gang adapter/power strip and whatever extension cables you can lay your hands on.
headphones (no speakers!).
money for food, drink, accomodation etc.
your >>signed waiver<< - no admission without one
melee weapon of choice (eg: batleth, frying pan, hypnotoad, sleeping tmoney etc.)
drivers/games/apps discs, os + cdkeys just in case you need to reformat on the day.
anti-virus software fully updated. i recommend avg free edition from grisoft.comno lan access without some. i will make avg free edition installer and updates available on the ftp server.
bring sleeping-bags/floormats if you haven't got the stamina

I'm going to try and see if there's enough power available to take 50 PCs + the servers etc. The real problem is people bringing great hulking beasts of PCs with water cooling, 600W PSUs and 20hdds all decked out with too many fans and lights. And 21" CRTs

Shuttles and TFTs are the way to go lads, look at Ronan Raven and the Waterford AOL posse. If there's enough power, I'll up the number of spaces. I should hopefully know by the end of the week.

usually when you say that you tell us what the idea IS john, now I'm intrueged :( and yes I can't spell. People have been wanting a q3 tourni for the last few LANs....this will rock...have ye got the linux OSP server or what, and who's running the shit? I always vote for the "signup for tournis when you pay" idea, but if not I can run around getting names if ye want, but someone's gotta admin the server in the tourni, and it can't be either of the 2 q3 players (name SiN and anima

I have whatever Rev Hellfire is running. Now, as for my knowledge of the actual server commands, that's a different story. This is prompting me to nearly write up some documentation (so everyone can rtfm) to summarise the common commands and install routines etc.

I'm not on IRC in the evenings to talk to Rev et al. Myself and Asok are going to get around to doing a bit of testing over the next few days and try to iron out any problems and familiarise ourselves with commands, particularly BF, QW, Q3 and CS.
