the whole 3 day thing sounded wicked until i read about bringing your own network cable. Maybe Im paranoid but this gives me visions of LANers goin mental cos they cant get the network goin which they have to set up themselves when they get there

we have cable already, just not a whole lot of long lengths. I have approx 7lengths of ~25 foot cat5e at home, but for lans I use my 15m Belkin factory made FAST Cat5e stuff. Might actually get som STP sometime incase of running cable past electrically noisey stuff. For €10-20 you can get some very good high quality cable which you KNOW works. Reduces hassle caused by dodgey home crimped stuff. This is just a piece of advice anyways. Also, myself DooDee and AngelWhore took a look at the venue today (peeked in the window). It'll take 40 people easily. There's a fullsize snooker table (not a bar pool table) there and it's sitting ont he banks of the Corrib river incase you want to go swimming (which you can, it's clean).

I should know whether we have the venue or not by monday (hopefully before that).
I've got my last exam tuesday morning (Maths Paper2) so don't expect to see me online that evening

I am still waiting to hear back, but I was talking to a mate last night and he mentioned that the dates above might be already taken for some film fleadh or something, so the lan could be moved back or forward a week. Any opinions/thoughts/concerns for this?

The rowing club has too many strings and complications attached, we wouldn't be able to use the Bar or snooker table (members only), we can't have it before the last weekend in July unless we want to have it on the 18th-20th and pack up saturday night for a 21st just so we can setup again sunday morning...headaches abound. I'm working on getting a nice big room in NUIG for us though.

Guys - Is it just me or do I see a MAD list of atendee's that generally never come to Galway LANS? I see names such as MindPhuck, Monty, AMP and a few others... Is it just me, or is this actually going to live up to the +40 Man capacity

I've still got to sort out how many seats there are. 40 is a rough guess. I took the "invite" function a bit too literally tbh.

I took a look at the venue about 8 minutes ago (with the lights on this time) Tis huge. Massive. And Black. We have the floor space for ~50 people + PCs easily, just have to decide on the best layout. I don't think anyone can be left out of this one

What is the story with leaving your computer there for the few nights? Will they be safe? Only live 30 mins away but transporting PC's is not a fun thing to do...
This only applies if get off the waiting list and onto the attending list. I hope to go...

You can leave it over night if you want. That's what most of us do. Is darkside on the same weekend (4th-6th July)? Didn't think it was
