as some of you may already know we have decided to change the name of our lan series to gamecon. it’s the same lan but as we are continuing to grow this one will be the last one in the current venue. we simply need more space to facilitate demand :-) this time around as well as a host of other events on behalf of microsoft we will also be hosting heats for the world halo pc championships. this is a must for all halo fans as the national winner will represent ireland in la early next year.
24 hour lan running over the 20th of december. kick off is 9am saturday morning.

what can you expect?

well gamecon truly is a multimedia games party, complete with, pc lan with 1 meg internet connection, 4 networked xbox's (with the lead xbox running on a 42" plasma screen), n-gage wireless network giant jenga(5ft high) and a full sized football table and much much more. all set in one of the most stylish lan venues in dublin. 

sorry but there is no free parking available (but plenty of car parks in the area)

May i suggest that we try to get the pc comp's finished fully, before going onto the likes of the xbox, etc As a lot of people did not hang around for the pc comp's on sunday, as they did not look like getting played. I belive it is great that deathcon (GameCon)is getting bigger, but i and other people did notice that, there was too much console games, and not alot of pc games being fully played out.. Jazz, as you know, i fully support and injoy DeathCon(GameCon), but it would be a shame to lose some of our well supported fans of the 24 hour PC lan... Awaiting your respones,, Rayzer.. You have got to stay to the end Rayzor. The main reason why their was a huge delay with starting PC comps was people (yourself included) not having there systems ready when the competitions where meant to start. This delays everybody and rather then have everybody just sitting around we simply pushed the Xbox comps forward to get people started on them while we waited for others to get their PC’s ready.

I would also like to point out that we only had More PC comps at the last LAN then Xbox comps. But as you mentioned if you didn’t stay till the end you may have missed some of them.

Now, rant aside, I hear your concerns buddy and I’m sure others felt the same what we have decided to do to help this is set stringent start times for each comp at our next event. It’s not very forgiving but we cant let one or two spoil the fun for everybody, so if your not ready to play at the start of a comp you will simply have to forfeit. I have already posted up a list of the games we intend to play at the next event and if there are any changes Ill be sure to make you all aware of them.

So make sure you have all the games you want to compete in installed and ready to run. Try to arrive early and you will be sure to get lots of PC and Console games played.:-)

Well 3nfusion it would be nice if you turned up this time, please please let us know before hane that you will not be attending the event as we are hoping to have people on the waiting list too. And no im not having a go at you Bret, its just we lost alot of people form comps due to them not turning up or not turning up on time.

great to see this lan up and running again i may have to pull out if im working that day but we shall see. I do agree the PC comps were a bit late. One idea for PC comps bay be to have 16 playr FFA 20 min games and the winner takes a prize quick and simple. Getting a non comp server going was very hard cause every time i got 4 or 5 players up for a lan game at least 2 of them had to leave before we even started to play some comp! DOnt get me wrong i like comps just they shouldent take over the LAN! and take as long as they did, if players PC`s are not ready drop them or get them on to a PC they can use quick!

i dont think ffa games are the best as they require the least amount of skill, 1v1 is the best as it just pits 1 person against another. In FFA's u would be shooting at someone and then bang, shot from behind or ur frag is robbed.

Nick we only have one FFA Comp, the rest are 1v1s or 2v2s. The one comp we do have - UT FFA is all just for fun, for something different, and people really enjoy this comp so we're not dropping it any time soon.

Hey Spookey.
Hope you can make it. Well we are doing a couple of things to try to address to PC comp delay. Including reducing the amount of comps and being a bit stricter about the start times. As well as that we will have public servers up for COD and DC plus we are planning a few fun FFA's

Seating Plan is now up lads, so book your seats now. Standard rule applies of booked seats will only be kept until 11am anybody arriving after that will be on a first come first served basis.

Sorry Nick but after all the problems we had with DOD we have decided to hold off on HL mods untill HL2 comes out. We would love to hold more comps but with limited time we can only host so many.

dod is completely different to cs and plus nobody knows the commands to stop ppl starting and capturing the flags before ppl are in, i know all the commands for cs.

Regardless n1ck, There will be no HL mods being played at GC because thre simply is not enough time and not enough people interested in playing. Maybe when HL2 comes out we will look into it, for now though the main game is definitely Call of Duty because it is just class .
