as some of you may already know we have decided to change the name of our lan series to gamecon. it’s the same lan but as we are continuing to grow this one will be the last one in the current venue. we simply need more space to facilitate demand :-) this time around as well as a host of other events on behalf of microsoft we will also be hosting heats for the world halo pc championships. this is a must for all halo fans as the national winner will represent ireland in la early next year.
24 hour lan running over the 20th of december. kick off is 9am saturday morning.

what can you expect?

well gamecon truly is a multimedia games party, complete with, pc lan with 1 meg internet connection, 4 networked xbox's (with the lead xbox running on a 42" plasma screen), n-gage wireless network giant jenga(5ft high) and a full sized football table and much much more. all set in one of the most stylish lan venues in dublin. 

sorry but there is no free parking available (but plenty of car parks in the area)

Wish i could be there, but this close to christmas i will be back in DK, anyway, i am happy to hear the amount of comps. are going down, last lan was just way too hectic, almost like going to work where you have to do this and that or else.... A good lan should be more relaxed and just let people have a good time instead of always dictating what they have to do. Well, that is just my thought anyway, i know plenty of people also enjoy the comps. So have the best Lan and i will be back next year

Yeah but the only reason it was so hectic is because not all the comps got started on time. Also the only was to have a nice relaxed lan is to not have any comps and it just wounldt be any fun without them, but we promise we will have our shit together this time

To all in the know, I was just thinking on the 1 on 1 v's challenges that i've been in.Seeing as I have limited skills in certain gaming areas it doesnt seem fair that on my first game I could be up against (GI-Joe veteran) to take me down to China town, and with it my all hopes of earning the valuble points. Now when I first attended the lan it was purley for fun but seeing the intestity and the competitiveness in people it has me wanting to progress to the next level so to speak. Is it possible to have different classes Ie: newbie , wannabie , hardcore action hereo class? Dont know if anyone else would agree i think it would change the winners circle a little bit IE: MR (A) isnt winning things every time and so on..... also give people like me the opportunity to improve the skills move up the classes and still feel like im competitive I mean everything else has classes boxing, race cars, even bloody ice skating....oh yeah and school.. now you may all think im mad and well thats probably true think about it you know it makes sense fairness to all. Keep up the good work and keep the happiness alive ........

You do make a valid point Albertoxie but also in saying that when you try to arrange people in categorys according to skill you get people giving out and saying im not that good or that person is better than that or worse than that. We tried this before by introducing a rank system for BF1942 and people where complaning and giving each other grief so it was scrapped. So unfortunately i dont think we could do that, sorry.

albertoxie i think thats a pretty whopper idea. as a fairly recent newcomer i quite often get the aforementioned trip to chinatown. maybe on sign up on the day you could tick a skill box? (jazz/hellraiser) prizes would of course be different for levels so good gamers dont drop down a to get an advantage. p_a

Plastic Axe, Al It’s not always easy to cater for every level of gamer but we do try. We think our points system and 1 prize per person ruling really means that even the most inexperienced gamer still has a chance of walking away with some goodies. But to give everybody a fair chance we are introducing a seeding system to this LAN. That way in team games, at least, all players will have a good chance. As for 1v1's well the way I see it if our point’s system means that Marclar can walk away with an Xbox prize then anybody can do it :-) Thanks for the feedback guys please keep it coming. Jazz

The way I see it through my eyes things are very fast and very reliable these days, but alas along with reliability comes with it the price of happiness. Now seeing as its morn i've decided to bless you all with yet another post. To start with I would like to do a little bitch'n. Me thinks that the Lan should be a smoke free pleasant Experience for all users.The lan does have extra options available outside the helm for anyone who partakes in the smoking adventure. I now realise why my scores are so low the smell of smoke wofting in to sting my eyes and kill me off was the cause.Theres nothing worse for a non smoker then have to indulge in its ways

There was a certain room at the Lan partae adventure that I wouldnt even step in to as it was filled with this white pisonoues shit floating around,and no it was not athrax which i believe is green nor was it the special under arm flovours that a 24hr lan would bring. Zero tollarance is the order of the day and I feel it would do only good and bring only happiness to the lives of many. As before You know it makes sense. Keep it clean. dont do drugs kiddes and dont do those who do!!! What goes around generally is round. If it fits in your mouth its good enough to eat. At the end of the day... its the nite time. Albertoxie! PICK ME PICK ME IM THE WINNER....

I know alot of people at the lan smokes and that you pay hard earned cash like the rest of us and thats cool. With out loads of people it doesnt really work which is why the ban on the "smoke" and not the smokers is the perfect option. Enjoy the smoke but do it outside, Im sure master Hellraiser would agree along with Dekken and maybe if Travis's balls dropped he'd agree aswell (Only messing trav dont hit me.....) So yes smoking is fecking disgusting get yourself a program... (mr healthy strikes again) Anyway Im voicing my thoughts let me know what you think. tell you what instead of having a few pulls of a fag between comps i'll just come down to the designated "foul air area" and let a big cracker of a fart off ! that would be much better wouldnt it ! hmm ! we could have toxic brown clouds instead of toxic white ones. (me jokin of course) I think the trick here is to keep the comps coming hard and fast. during the last deathcon i think i smoked about 12 fags instead of my usual 40 in the same time frame. I dunno about standing out on the quays at 2.30 am havin a fag while all the pissed up uk drunkies are goin past, might prove more hazzardous to the health than the ciggys.

Can smoke there, now if u have a problem go but 1 of those kuel face mask's u see asian people wearing, other wise get some scented candles, ram them up ure nose an play away instead of bitchin about some thing dat's got nothing to do with u and is not endangering you're health. D.

any well wishers out there dont be shy to air your views... Dragula dont know what kind of things you may be placing in your arse but im 100% you wouldnt fit a boot in mine, never mind sideways. Why you feel upset by my comment is beyond me.The anger you vent should infact be directed towards the inner turmoil which causes you to smoke in the first place...(Prodigy "wind it up")Oh and as for health issues clearly you dont agree with the rest of the world it does cause death but im sure thats not a real health issue.Oh www.wipe.those.tears.com you can buy some tissues there if you need too.
