i think we should go back to the classics in this lan, what i mean by this is some classic halflife deathmatch!! i love that game and if any one challnages me i will beat you down in it so fast.....any one up for it? also could the oragisers posable get a list of chinese pizza etc menues that deliver? i would think that it is a good idea since at the last lan there was much confusion in where to go or how to go get "hot" food.

i remember from one of the last lans we had a lot of trouble getting some hl mods running some people had different versions of hl and different versions of the different mods. if someone makes a version of hl or steam with the mods and we worked of that. some pvk and specialists would be cool

if you want to use my version of hl with about 20+ multiplayer mods i got all the latest mod versions before steam took over. heres a list of some of the top of my mind pvk specialists americans explosions day of defeat oposing force deathmatch classic digital paintball international online soccer kanonball monkey strike syndicate black ops ricohet wanted team fortress classic sven co-op nateral selection cs and a few more the whole folder is 2.7 gb in total

u don't even need an external one. you can share someone elses CD drive and network up to their PC. I'm sure u won't need the CD drive often.

What sort of laptop drive? I have a DVD-rom pulled from a PCMCIA caddy, tis the slimline laptop formfactor, small (much smaller than standard IDE) connector at the back, it might do as a stop-gap solution if you want.

I have had a poke around with my drive and now it plays 'real cds',intermittantly plays cd-r's,plays dvd-r's but does not play real dvds.I am quite confused.Do different things play the different types of dvd and cd?? Along with this is the fact that although I have sent my laptop to acer twice since the last lan..they have still not fixed the booting problem(infact the first time I sent it they replaced the screen which was not what I asked them to do at all and they said it must have been overheating,bollocks),ie when my laptop goes off I won't be able to turn it on for between 3 days and two fucking weeks.I think I may have to ring them,shout at them and probably send it back again...I just rang the guy I bought it from and he says that with all the crap that has been consistantly wrong with it,they should give me a new one or an even better idea *fix it*.He is going to england next week and he said he would take it to them so I will probably go with that idea because I need it fixed for college much more than I do for games atm.I'll ask somebody if I can borrow their laptop or something for the LAN and if not,there's always next time...well if acer....bastards... We'll see.(Thanks for the help btw)

as i said i would like to see some classic hl deathmatch and i think oliver has that covered for any one that wants to play but also is anyone intrested in playing battlefield 1942?? i really like that game and you can do soo much more with the boats planes etc.. to what i've see/played in bf2. what you think? we go all out and bring some good games back from the dead?

You won't get your money back if its been that long. You can have the warranty extended and if it takes longer then 28days to fix then you are entitled to a replacement, varies from company to company though.You just got to keep on them about it. Boot problem - Have u removed the battery,disconnect mains,held power button for 20sec, then connect mains and powered it? can sort many boot problems. All else fails might have spare pc if u still want to go!

that wouldn't solve it,it looks like what happens is sometimes it detects the hardrive and sometimes it doesn't and therfore just turns off or something.... Thanks a lot for the offer of the pc but i dunno,i'm prob just gonna see rodrigo y gabriela instead this time
