where do I start........
As for not wanting the free advertisement, you offered it, we did not ask, and as such we were not aware there were any conditions attached to it. We appreciate any advertisement / publicity, but if there are conditions attached, then my answer is no, we probably do not want it.
Regarding the sponsorship from computerdoctor.ie, that is an arrangement between The Digital Hub Development Agency and computerdoctor.ie. If you want to interfere with this arrangement, that is fine, but I would wonder why you would bring to everyones attention, the fact that you pushed so hard for this to happen and are now quite happy to stop it. You arranged this deal apparently, and then popped on saying you had done so - fine, but again it seems to have conditions attached. The fact that you are bringing your own personal agenda to this disturbs me. I am aware you work for computerdoctor.ie, and as such would have a close line of communication with the people who make these decisions, but bear in mind that companies in general, make decisions to sponsor events and spend marketing budgets in order to generate more business - not to facilitate the self promoting motives of one of their employees. As for the perception of how things are looking behind the scenes at our end, I would like to know what that perception is, and how it was arrived at. What is this information based on. You really need to answer this point. Regarding your comment about poor attendance and publicity, this is the first year the WCG has run in Ireland, and due to situations beyond our control, was quite late in being organised. We have done the best we can up to this point, and to be honest, in such a short time frame, the attendance levels I am seeing are quite good. No doubt next years event will be even bigger as we will have a whole year to plan it. Regarding publicity, that is being handled by Digital Hub Development Agency, and they have had good response from the national press, and the event will be covered. As per my previous point, if we had the luxury of time available to us, we would have been able to secure more pre-event promotion, but that just wasnt possible this year.
I believe computerdoctor.ie would benefit from attending the event, as it will be covered by the national press, and will be attended by many people active in the IT industry, but then again, I am sure you have already told them that.
Spot Prizes - to put it plainly, no we dont want any prizes that were given to you by sponsors to be given out at YOUR lan. It was up to you to give them out at GHMlan, to the people who paid good money to attend GHMlan. To give them away at another LAN would be both disingenuous and insulting to those atendees and sponsors.
The tone of your post just shows how childish and petulant you can be, David. Just because you do not get what you want, you want to take away all the goodies that you offered. If you were just a standard attendee who wished to partake in any of the organised games, like everyone else, you would be made as welcome as the next guy. Unfortunately, you appeared to be trying to somehow link GHMlan with this event with your ambiguous first post, and I wont have that. This is an event that has never happened before, and will raise the profile of computer / console gaming in Ireland, so why cant you just leave your agenda behind, and enjoy a professionally run event like everyone else.
By the way, could you reply to me via email, as I do not want an allout flamewar breaking out on this thread, thank you (richardsmith101<at>gmail<dot>com)
